Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

If cultural change is made and the penny has actually dropped within the four walls of our club, I actually don’t think we will struggle in 2026 if three key things now happen:

1. we come out strong in the CC deal
2. we’ve nailed it with the new assistants who find their feet quickly to upskill and impact change
3. most importantly here and something that underpins all of this for on field success - Voss transforms himself to become more reactive to tactical change on game day when things aren’t working and proves the belief he’s got it in himself to be a great coach

We have made huge steps in the football department. And right now we are making important steps in list changes and depth of the list, and am pleased so far. Point 3 is what is the difference for me here if everything is running on point otherwise.
Lastly, no ****ing major injuries please lol

My Guess:

Carlton give Charlie and 10

Carlton get Walter, Hayward, F1 Sydney, f1 GWS, 35,

GWS give F1 and 35, 37 and get 7, 52

Gold Coast give walter, 7, 52 and get 10, 11 and Rowbottom.

Sydney give F1, 11, Hayward, rowbottom and get Charlie and 37

Walter absolutely has to be part of any Curnow deal... especially if GC get JUH which would leave Walter in the VFL all year.

With Walter in the deal (plus picks) I would be very comfortable with the Curnow trade - given he's 29 and has at least 1 wonky knee.

I can't see us going for a deal just because they add a Florent / Hayward type to some picks. It just weakens Carlton too much in the immediate future.

Rowbottom is of less than zero interest. The exact type of player we've got an oversupply of - and the problem we're trying to address with the Ainsworth / Chesser / Khamis deals.

I promise you Sydney won't do it in a heartbeat
I like that promise.

So we keep Charlie.

If we don’t and Harry goes down next year, we’re ****ed.

Last year we beat Geelong by 10 goals and were 2nd on the ladder before injuries killed us.

How did it come to this?

I honestly don't see why we would struggle anymore than we did this season tbh.

Jack barely played, TDK checked out at the half way point and Charlie had his worst year.

We've replaced them with less talented, but more committed players, on top of that having a fit and raring to go Jagga and Newman and on top of that I genuinely think the players left are more united than ever on the Vossy front.

I have faith.
I don't think we'll be notably worse than this year but I certainly don't see us being a top 6 team which was our expectation going into the last couple of seasons.

Will play round 1 as will all our recruits. Were building depth through the moneyball theory which I’ve used quite a few times our list was unbalanced due to paying big stars we can now go into 2026 fresh and void of players creating cultural issues.

Extremely excited and this swans deal will be monumental if the rumours are right.

That's a big call. I think they'll all get a decent crack in preseason and the R1 team will be picked based on that.

Rowbottom + 11 > Suns for 7 + 36

7 + 36 + F1 + Hayward > Carlton for Charlie + F3/2027 F2

7 + 10 > WCE Pick 2 + 53
I'd want more back from the Eagles, Florent from the Swans.
Are we still expecting a few fringe types like Acres and Gov to get traded for a few extra picks/points?
Getting that way if we want to match bids and pick ahead of Dean.

As I posted the other day (got via Footy Manager) Swans are working on deal that will blow us away.

It’s getting close. I now expect it to happen

Errol Gulden?

Trading in a Rowbottom doesn’t balance our midfield. It’s another Hewett trade when you have a Cripps, Kennedy and Setterfield. We need to be smarter.
Worked out pretty bloody well for us so far!!

If really good players want to get to your club, it's probably best to bring them in so long as they don't blow up the locker room.

So saints say Marshall won’t be traded full stop so why can’t we do the same with Charlie and just end it.

Same scenario disgruntled player.

Neither.

Id hazard a guess and I said it yesterday and the day before, I dont believe the club want Charlie to return at all. Despite the public stance. :thumbsu:

Three first rounders from Sydney isn't much better than from Geelong, apart from the current one. They'll win the next two flags with Charlie up front. It comes down to the included players.

Lol not so sure. SCG will force cc to wrestle more than he does now and as we know not his bag... they'll get their marquee forward which they love up there for marketing

How did it come to this?

What a load of panic.

Who won the goal kicking at Brizzy this year??

Actually who were the top 5??

1 Key forward, the rest were mids.

I just want us to be fighting for the eight come the latter parts of the season, that's all I ask and I genuinely believe we will be (Health and fitness bearing).

I don't particularly love what we gave up, but he's a good inclusion and I'm hardly gonna lose sleep over it. Those numbers include 3 games subbed on/off. It's also an incredibly simplistic way to assess a deal, he plays a role that isn't a high possession role. In modern footy, those half forwards are mostly used for guarding space, applying pressure and then capitalising going back the other way. He isn't elite in his role, but he's an upgrade on a few of our guys in the same position. Give him a chance I reckon
Someone has to replace Elijah.

Is anyone confident Reidy will overtake Pitto for R1?
Hopefully he can be another Lloyd Meek story after leaving Freo, but I haven’t seen anything overly impressive in highlights packages and thought he was genuinely woeful in his single game this year.

Bugger all given up for him and worth a shy at the stumps. Would love to be proven very wrong but just don’t see it

His game this year was as 2nd ruck to Jackson. Hard to get a gauge on a player based on such a limited sample size. He had 18 hitouts and 6 disposals but I'd imagine he was catching a cold in the forward line for a lot of the game with geelong dominating.

I like his aggression and goal kicking (albeit based on WAFL / VFL form) but I don't think he's ever going to be a guy who dominates the hitouts.

I think that’s entirely possible. Club may this as the sort of reset/retool that’s needed.

Public stance is stronger than the way we usually trade…
