Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

All this.
But perhaps more importantly they’ve had a proper Head of Footy, and have built a good culture.

This has been our biggest issue, our list was good enough talent wise.

talented inside mids in the forward line

talented inside mids in the back pocket

talented inside mids on the wing

etc

Okay I’ve had a re-think.

I think our deal will be: Pick 11, F1 (2026), Hayward and Rowbottom.

Then with all of the spare cash we have, we go hard at McInerny as Free Agent next year.
Rowbottom to GC with 18 coming back
Swap the 18 into your scenario for what we get. We'll send 54 to Sydney too.

10&11 to move up.
18&22 for matching
F1 to help next year

Getting fat on F/S and Academy then having your President take over the AFL and promptly **** up other clubs' access to this pathway is also a bonus. Plus him conjuring a first rounder out of thin air so your club and West Coast can play mutually beneficial trade period games.

I dunno why GC has to cop the tag of the AFL's nepo baby - it's clearly Brisbane.

True.
Although these specific advantages have only come in after they had put together a back-to-back calibre list.

It’s certainly going to help them maintain dominance into the future though.

I'd prefer to take a wholistic view of trade period, to see overall what we gained and what we lost. Some trades seem cheap (eg Chesser), and others a little more steep (to satisfy another club for a contracted player). Just me, but I won't be looking at the Khamis trade in isolation...
I don’t. Sorry

I'd offer 10 and 11 to GC for Humphrey and 18. Sounds like unders for GC, but enables them to get Trac, uwlwand and patterson, maybe Rowbottom sweetens the deal
Thats a horrific deal for GCS. They'd be able to sell Humphrey to the highest buyer and get double that in this years draft.

Marginally better than a three way with Humphrey

It’s quite depressing knowing the lions and us were at same point in time not that long ago now look at them
Know one will come close to them for the next 5. Yrs they have the best young talent coming in and the seniors are topshelve they lose players and get good players in watch Oscar slot in seamlessly
They were absolutely looked after by the AFL, include FS. Us not so much.

Aleer isn't coming cheap. Wasn't the Saints offering him 900k per year?
They refer to losing 1.5 million, so I think it was about 600k a year for 4 years. GWS offering 350k a year for 3, and unlikely GWS would agree to that now that Saints pulled out.

Understand if you can’t reveal anything here but is your read that the situation was a bit more dire than the article is suggesting and he burnt too many bridges within the club along the way?

Or the article mostly being correct but the club cutting him almost as a signal to the players we are now under a new regime?

Yeah.. I’m not qualified to weigh in on the relationship between mental health issues and alcohol or substance use, but based on what I was told (when I first mentioned Lij’s absence here … before it was deleted at the club’s request), along with GW’s stance and Voss’ comments about being “disappointed”, it feels like the article is leaving out a lot of key context.

Elijah has an article in the Age suggesting that he's good to go next year, that he's been training with the club, and is open to staying - wants to pay the club back for their support - if a trade does not occur.
My head says he’s probably said that before. Heart says he could be the gamebreaker we desperately need. The article suggests he didn’t do anything untoward this season but for Carlton to be so off him there must be more to the story.

It’s interesting that he’s been training with Walsh, if by the rumours go, will be captain next season. I wonder if Walsh can save him?

Prefer Florent over Rowbottom. At least Florent addresses an area of need. Rowbottom may be the better player but we don't need another slow inside mid.
I watched the clips of Rowbottom and I don't see a slow player. Is his endurance lacking? He seems to have a bit of time and be fairly good at intercepting the ball in the air.

I just can’t imagine that Sydney is going to offer pick 9, Will Hayward, F1. That’s been rumoured for weeks and I imagine that Carlton has already given Sydney feedback on that.

The problem I see is that pick 9 is not particularly valuable for Carlton. It would get eaten up in a bid for TDK and I think Carlton would much prefer to bring in someone with some experience.

I feel like something must be brewing behind the scenes with a 3rd club. I know all the mail regarding Humphrey is that he won’t be traded, but I wonder if Sydney offers Rowbottom and Pick 9 to Gold Coast for Humphrey, with Carlton then receiving Humphrey, Hayward and Sydney’s F1.

I feel like that would get the deal done.
