Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

The article on Elijah in Age today is interesting. Not really consistent with us telling him to explore his options though.

He makes it sound like he really put some effort in to get himself right... so why would we want him gone so bad that we're considering paying him out?

Hopefully, this is just the club scaring the shit out of him, give him one last chance and go from there..

But tbh, I have my doubts that he's being truthful in that article and to the club... GW, CD & MV will see right through that hence the reason we're trying to get rid of him.

Nothing will happen over the weekend. Nic Austin is playing local cricket

Was a typo - it was to get blown by Dane Swan.

Will do anything for a quick buck these days
What about Greg Swann then we’ll know we’ve been royally reamed in any trade deals for Charlie

There’s about a 5% chance he stays - and that’s only if the Ghost of Christmas pays GW a visit in his sleep.

Understand if you can’t reveal anything here but is your read that the situation was a bit more dire than the article is suggesting and he burnt too many bridges within the club along the way?

Or the article mostly being correct but the club cutting him almost as a signal to the players we are now under a new regime?

Only slightly?

Isn’t 2026 the draft we want to have lots of picks in for Walker etc and fact it’s rumoured to be strong and last before it’s compromised by Tasmania? I assume it’s because we think we can make a deal for Charlie which includes a 2026 F1?

I have a feeling I’m not going to like the pick we throw out for Buku. Just a frustrating trade selection.
I'd prefer to take a wholistic view of trade period, to see overall what we gained and what we lost. Some trades seem cheap (eg Chesser), and others a little more steep (to satisfy another club for a contracted player). Just me, but I won't be looking at the Khamis trade in isolation...

This is always good to do....swings and roundabouts

I Defintely think it’s from the top down right people and right recruiting
Definitely, over time their recruiting has proven to be top class, along with A-grade F/S selections under the old rules.

At the time I remember a lot of comparisons being made between Carlton and Brisbane both going through rebuild periods. But I can remember when Lachie Neale joined them in 2019 it was a game changer for them.

But as you say after 2019 their recruitment hardly missed a beat and was topped off with the Ashcroft selections.

In contrast, our recruitment at the same time was abysmal under SOS and we are where we are because of it. I feel like it’s getting back on track and hopefully we’ll look back and say GW, Harry Dean, Jagga and Cody were our turning point.

Florent can be picked up for a middling pick. He would hold no value in a Charlie trade. Rowbottom, yes we have players like him but he is very good and we would find a spot for him in our best 22 quite easily.

I don't think we are in the position to turn away best 22 quality that wants to play for us.

Hayward, McDonald, Rowbottom, Campbell, Dattoli, Papley, Florent; would be my order of the players rumoured to be expendable.
We aren't West Coast, it's not like we have nothing, Sydney finished one ladder spot above us. We want to change how we play to be more dynamic and not contested ball or bust, Rowbottom doesn't help us at all. I am not interested and doubt the club is either.

All this.
But perhaps more importantly they’ve had a proper Head of Footy, and have built a good culture.

This has been our biggest issue, our list was good enough talent wise.

Getting fat on F/S and Academy then having your President take over the AFL and promptly **** up other clubs' access to this pathway is also a bonus. Plus him conjuring a first rounder out of thin air so your club and West Coast can play mutually beneficial trade period games.

I dunno why GC has to cop the tag of the AFL's nepo baby - it's clearly Brisbane.
