Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I’m at a loss trying to figure out the EH situation.

Article today was a bit of PR. But it also was refreshing to hear that he’s owning his demons and trying to correct his life.

Yes I agree some things were left out, but, if he has done the rehab, thats ownership.

Name me the last player who has acknowledged and put his soul out in the public forum like this?

EH saying he wants to repay the club and team mates who’s he’s let down is just words, but words that will haunt him for life if he doesn’t live up to it.

Why would the club allow him to play last couple of games in the 2’s if his papers are stamped?

My wish is he stays and honours his words. Bloke has talent unlike most on our list.

He will become my favourite player if he gets it right.
He makes us better. Let him see out his contact and see what happens. Big ups if he can get himself right. Will win the vfl bnf if he can't.

The last player who talked about mental health like that is Bailey Smith at the All-Australian awards night.
Talked about being in a mental health facility and his struggles.

I wish Smith all the best for his mental health challenges and it would be difficult being under the spotlight he is under… but he is still a massive knob and isn’t showing too many signs of growing up, and it seems like he could even be a destabilising influence at the Cats. I wouldn’t want him at Carlton even if he is a fantastic player.

So I can also understand the clubs position as well. Have to place trust that GW, Davies and Voss know what they’re doing.
So True. At the start of the year i was actually excited to see how he went, and he didn't disappoint.
But as the year progressed, his true childish, arrogant, knob-self (who is so full of himself he seems unlikely to change), was continually on display for the whole world to see, even after chats (mid-season) from the AFL and the club that has taken a chance on him.

Not sure why all players with a history don't have mandatory behavior clauses in their contract (enforced by the AFL so the club has no say) which allows a club to sever ties without honoring the full contract.

Unfortunately, that is the nature of AFL, and that environment doesn't help but actually fuels their poor attitudes. Clubs all too willing to give players a 2nd, 3rd, 4th chance if they are elite talent, thinly veiled as 'concerned for their mental health' but if you aren't that great a player you are straight out the door.

From what I’ve heard, Walsh is speaking up for EH to the club and is offering to let Lij stay at his house to help him stay on the straight and narrow if the club retains him. I think that he, Lij, was shocked when the club to find a new home. And from what someone has said, even his own brother doesn’t want to share a house with him.

I think sometimes being someone with these sort of troubles brother makes it harder to get through.

Particularly a younger brother. Hard to get your big bro to listen to you about getting your shit together.

Anyway, I wish Lij the best, not sure AFL is the best life situation for him

Catching up after a busy day.

Why has Opium been red carded.

Usually a well balanced, positive type of guy.

You..you…me..me..mean we’re no chance of getting Bont after all these years of campaigning KP. Say it isn’t so.
You HAD to go there...

That doesnt surprise me one bit. I posted ages ago that not all siblings want to play in the same team as their brother, and if they do, there is no guarantee they play well together. Some siblings just don't deal well with the shadow of the older brother.

I'm of 2 minds on the Elijah thing, but as an observation I don't think Ollie plays anywhere near as well when 'Lij is in the side. No co-incidence Ollie's best year to date is off the back of 'Lij not being in the side.

If they keep kicking high balls in without kicking it to CC's advantage, what else is he supposed to do. Amount of crashes he has copped due to being tag-teamed by the opposition and we still cannot find a 'free' forward in space....
They kick high balls to him cause he stands there with one arm up waving like he’s drowning…..in fact he’d want to be careful next time he gets caught in a rip. The lifeguard’s will be like, “oh don’t worry it’s Charlie, he does it all the time.”

If EH can convince GW & CD and teammates, more importantly himself to reset and convert to a more grounded lifestyle, it would a massive win for us, also important for our cultural revival, a really major issue is at play at the club and for the lads sake, I hope we give him the opportunity to turn his life around.
Everyone deserves that much understanding.

Walshy probably not a bad one to have on his side at this stage

If they were considering keeping him, then, from what I've heard, it would need to be run by his teammates first. If they don't want to play with him, he can't stay.

OH improving would be on his own maturity and further exposure at AFL level (still a long way to go with his tackling, skills & finding some proper boots).

OH was the induction officer in his 2nd year. Needs to clip the locks & rid the dirty mo. Get serious with a shaving!

Chance Elijah Hollands stays. Will be up to club and leadership and will be under very strict conditions. Not decided yet but possible
With Ainsworth, Chesser and potentially Hayward and Humphrey I don’t see a spot for him anyway.

He appears to be holding court with players at golf, training.

Off-season escape would have been hard, hence he was prob grounded here and looking after himself.

Chesser is no real competition - wing or back
Humphrey unlikely
Ainsworth can roll up to the wing
Will Wayward

You keep your good players IMO, especially ones at Carlton that can kick.
Am I missing something with Will Wayward? He's normally a beautiful kick
