Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

He’s been very well looked after.
If he plays on with us, it’s on min chips almost as an act of good faith.

It doesn't work that way unfortunately. Zac was one of our better players in the second half of the season. He gets paid for what he offers, not what he owes.

I don't know why he has fallen out of favour at the Swans. I'm happy to go along with the notion he is suddenly very average, so that he is only steak knives in any deal, but secretly I think he's a very good player and would walk into our 23.
My theory is that him playing in the twos is a directive from higher up in the football department to phase him out due to his contract.

Don't forget HOK. Ruck/Forward for a couple more years.

I haven't forgotten. Just need to see more goals to be sure. Him and Reidy both project as forward/rucks in the future. One might just be that place holder KPF until we decide if someone like HOF would make a good swingman.

Whether the Swans come up with an acceptable offer for Charlie remains to be seen but at least they are having a crack unlike Geelong. I would love for Collingwood to get Rowbottom for their future first and Sydney give it to us as part of their offer. I would love death riding the Pies all year. I do it anyway bit even more so if it gets us a better pick

Yeah, but why him? Is he on big coin? They have some other so-so types in the ones.

McGovern has been getting a chop out for years, ditto Williams (both fitness) before the last season or two. Acres (among plenty of others) has had a chop out all 2025 (form).

Charlie probably deserves a mention for how he’s handled his rehab at times too.

And if you’re asking me to exclude the guys that turned up out of shape isn’t that the whole point 😂

There’s no doubt the footy department has been doing that for years and most of us are pissed off about that.

And again; injecting the talent narrative into a discussion that is fundamentally about professional standards is the actual problem.

So then when the right decisions finally get made to set standards without exception - and regardless of talent - people lament that it means certain players have to be let go. Go figure…

Fair

Fair call, he did turn up out of shape.

I’d still allow him 1 spot on the list to prove himself.

His talent is undeniable.

I’m a big supporter of EH.

Hayward, 11, Syd F1 and Collingwood F1

… that would be in line with yazz ‘s 3 first round picks next year.

We could then package up 10 and 11 to get us Walter or Humphrey and still bring in some points to match Dean and Ison.

Edit: probably overkill from a Sydney perspective .. but I can dream.
Or a pick before Dean if the suns hold onto their players

Maybe there’s a compromise where there’s a commitment for a year of VFL or something, but stay on the list.

I see your point, I just feel like as a club, we don’t have the stability of a Geelong etc, to ensure these guys actually do have the environment to succeed if they aren’t self driven, and might just have to be a bit conservative with the real professional types until we build it

Kemp will be ready in time ?
He should be back to full training for the start of the season... but his confidence in his achilles might take about 6 more months to click in. I almost ripped a tendon in two playing cricket, it took ages before I would trust pushing off on my left foot to chase a ball.

Jagga, Walsh, Walker, Lord look good, but that is 3 years away from maturing.

Not sure Wilson is x factor, he was just getting a game. Ben C hasnt played game and Ollie will hopefully be a good solid running AFL player.

Moir is the only x factor i think.

It shows you me we still need high end picks/talent.

That list is simply too thin for me.

Better offer McGovern another contract…

Perhaps he was genuinely happy at the time and we were looking like becoming a prominent finals team with the list we had, in his eyes…

I’m not excusing his behavior in how this has played out during this year and once the season has finished, dispite he’s injuries over the years I’ve been one of many who have called out his lazy half arsed defensive efforts since his injury comeback…

Always moved very well when he was presenting but couldn’t chase an opponent within a few metres of him, predominantly gave fk all true efforts…

He’s one of the league’s most talented KPF’s who can and has destroyed teams single handily, he was right to sign the contract offer we offered him, just a pity things have gone south with him, whatever his reasons might be…
Charlie did nothing in one finals series where his team mates were playing well, so he should have been happy enough winning games without contributing much back then.........must be missing the waves I guess. Might have to get used to surfing at Bondi from now on......:surfer:

Usually on here it’s back and forth rubbish.

I applaud you being reasonable.

Sometimes it takes a calculated risk to enable stability.

Everyone we've brought in so far bring good experience and skill to our best 30 players. While we have good talented youngsters coming through, we've been lacking something.

I can see how HOF could be used as a swingman. Could be similar to how SOS could be used as a forward when needed. HOK and his jump is going to be perfect for the new ruck rules. If Reidy comes on as a forward/ruck, that'd be great.

I really hope Lij stays - and not just because his skill set is exactly what we need. Made some mistakes but few don’t at 23 - we want them to be consummate professionals and forget what babies they are. Most people that age are not Sam Walsh - I certainly wasn’t and now I’m a senior exec at an asx 50 company. He’ll come good with proper leadership and mentoring and I’d like to think a professional football club could figure that out and make it happen.
And maybe it's a bit of a 2 way street....

Vossy came out and said openly we need to improve out 'culture'. Maybe if we had a stronger culture at the club to begin with, it wouldn't have reached this point with Lij....so is he just the scapegoat for our own club's inadequacies? I've got no idea what atrocities he's committed, but if we have a new and improved culture at the club according to our coach, how about demonstrating it to your loyal supporters instead of pissing in our pockets!!!

Words mean jack shit. What we see through our own eyes is an incredibly talented player who is being pushed out of our club and we have no idea why. And we now read a newspaper article of him opening up to the world of his 'faults' and how he's now looking to rectify them. Whatever the motivation, kudos to him.

But of course we just have to cross our fingers and trust that Priestly and Kinnersly are making the right decision to get rid of him on behalf of it's 100.000 confused and frustrated members.

Bailey is your Petracca\Degoey type, Moir is your Fritsch\Dempsey type.

Subtle differences but Moir is not a brutish type of footballer, he’s your silk. I do love that the coaches gave him minutes in the midfield I just don’t think that’s what he’ll end up doing though
Dempsey and Fritsch are nowhere near the same type of player. If I was to compare Moir to anyone it would be Jamie Elliott

Would be happy to see this pan out:

Curnow for Pick 11, future first, Hayward and [something].

Pick 10 and [something] for Walter and a future second.

22 for Khamis and 32.

11 covers Dean.
32 covers Ison.

2026 - our first, Sydney's first, GC's second - should provide enough of a platform to set up a draft hand that gets Walker. Worst case, might need to package them up with a future pick or two, or shift another couple of players on, but it's a solid starting point to work with.

2026 Best 23:
Newman, Weitering, Haynes
Carroll, Cowan, Saad
Hollands, Walsh, Chesser
Pittonet, Cripps, Smith
Hayward, McKay, Ainsworth
Moir, Walter, Williams
I/C: Cerra, Hewett, Kemp, Evans, Khamis
EMG: Wilson, Lord, HOK

Would then love to see Newman and Saad pushed out by kids by year's end. Haynes probaboy plays all year with HOF out, Dean starting in the ressies and challenged to push past Khamis.

Forgotten man, Cottrell. Feel like he should play, but not sure whose spot he takes and could see him just becoming solid, loyal depth.

Not an overly young side, but one that I think could push into the 8 while cycling some kids through 3-5 spots in any given week.

Sorry, but how are we getting Collingwoods 1st?

Elijah isn’t a scapegoat for our clubs inadequacies.

He’s suffering the consequences of his own repeated actions.

I’d love if he could somehow do something to make up for his past indiscretions and rectify the broken trust, allowing him to stay on the list. But I’m not sure that’s possible.
