Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

He is contracted so there will be no PSD.

25 year old KPP/third tall, covers both ends, who they have no issue in holding onto for another year.

32 in a weaker draft is not horrible. It’s overs but we can’t have it both ways. Carlton has chased him and will make sure it gets done.
If Bulldogs want to hold Buku for another year fair enough, I’d rather pivot and look at Aleer as a 24yo 194cm defender to support Weiters which we may very well be doing.

Interesting that not a peep has been made at trying to get another key back 🤔
Weiters needs help & a kid/Young ain’t going to cut it.
Plenty of talk around swing men but we need an actual lock down tall - & no, not suggesting May, blokes a tool of the highest order.
We 100% need to help back there thou

I am coming around to getting rid of Curnow. Does it really come as a surprise that a kid who refused a breath test hasn’t got the greatest attitude? The idea of putting guys without leadership attributes I the leadership group is extremely flawed.

My dream is
CC for
Swans 1st traded to Gcs for Walter
Swans 2nd traded to Gcs for Rogers ( gun but essential the same player as Lombard)
Swans F1 to get Walker
Dean
ISON
KPF- maybe Swans can tip in the one the Pies are chasing just to mess with them
FYoung

White and one other to go. MCG stays as we traded the pick for Buku

Depth isn’t the problem. No team can cover 10 plus injuries

I wonder how we could potentially trade for Butters F1st then we would have to move on a player who could bring another first round pick in.

King could go, will depend on whether they think he will or not.

Could they match our offer? I am expecting our cap to be extremely open. Would we be willing to go big though?
Aleer lost 50% of his 1v1 defensive contests this season, tied with Aidan Corr as the most of any tall defenders with a minimum of 10 games this year. The next worst was Sandy Brock in a shocking Eagles side at 41% and then Alex Pearce at 37%.
To put that into perspective our whipping boy Lewis Young only lost 30%, Haynes 18%, JSOS 14% and Weiters 13%.

He isn’t all he’s cracked up to be. Runs around like a headless chook, athletic yes but I’ve only seen him fly like an idiot at most balls.

I hope we steer well clear.

Jacob Blight as a DFA or Ethan Phillips come to mind for me

Landscape changed last week HF, hope we’re making contact with Leek Aleer.

Imagine how fired up he’d be in our team next year against the Saints!!

Aleer will be more expensive in trade and salary. Also much less proven, perhaps has a higher ceiling than Khamis but both have had plenty of time in the system now.

Putting aside what happens with Rowbottom and any implications for us.

11, F1 and Hayward as a minimum*

Package up 10 and 11 to GC for Humphrey (won’t need them due to Dean bid/weaker draft - GC may need them for deals with Melb and points matching).

Bank the Sydney F1 for Walker (with ours)

Net gain;

Hayward, Humphries, Dean, Ison, Ainsworth, Chesser + Walker points

Go hard at McInerny as a free agent next year with all of our banked $$ from TDK/Charlie and bring him home

FWIW I think the swans will offer more to the above get Charlie - so anything else would be a bonus.

Edit: would need to find another pick to add to the SOS compo to match Dean/Ison bids.

Heard at the races yesterday:

Sydney (& by extension D’Orazio) reluctant to trade any of their A-graders including Hayward. They’re working on players from other clubs that will satisfy Carlton.

One can only assume that might be the likes of Humphrey and/or Walter. Zane Duursma name was mentioned also.
Cool.
Then I look forward to seeing CC still in navy come 7:00 Wednesday.

When will clubs understand?

A for A. Screw clubs and their position to not lose quality if they want it.

Steer clear of who?

Yep, for some reason I assumed he was uncontracted and Dogs gave him an offer he turned down.
They opened up contract talks for an extension but not taken up by BK.

He’s not getting a regular gig but has another year left on his remaining contract. He’s effectively backup and depth on their list, as per their own statement.

If the price is too high on a trade, then we need to say we tried but not under those terms.

Would be great to see Harry win the Coleman next year. Dangerous mid sized forwards to shift attention, much improved ball movement and a clean run of health should have us saying Charlie who?
I've been thinking this. Plenty of marking targets in our forward end plus no Curnow, we could see Harry McKay kick a lot of goals. From memory his Coleman came from a season where Curnow was absent?

Re scenario 1

Would we be happy with either Humphrey or Walter for 10 & 11 ?

Humphrey projects as a gun no doubt but Walter would really balance out the forward line and we will have already added Hayward and Ainsworth around the flanks along with Williams, Moir and Motlop …

Hayward Walter Ainsworth
Williams McKay … Moir/Motlop/Kemp

Good question!

I'd prefer Humphrey...

About 8 years ago I stated my view about where the game was heading, that having a mix of hybrid mid/fwds and med fwds would be the way to go over having 2 kpf beasts in the forward line.

You look at the Lions, zero reliance on a key forward to step up for them...

Bailey, Rayner, Lohmann, Cameron etc..

They had 2 kids as their key targets, Geelong had Cameron + Neale and they did fa including during the tight first half.

I'd be quite happy with this:

Ainsworth Kemp Humphrey
Hayward McKay Moir

with HOK, Williams, Motlop as depth...

I would’ve thought #54 was the right pick for Buku, but if the Bullies want a second round pick because he’s contracted - I’d rather give that to GWS for Leek who I feel would fill our KPD need better..

Charlie - if fit - will win the Coleman if he has Gulden, Warner and Blakey kicking the ball to him on that small SCG oval.

GWS only offering Aleer base salary and asking for a F2.
The thing with Khamis is versatility which we are losing with JSOS and (potentially) Gov.
I'd probably like to know which players come in from any Curnow deal before committing either way.

You’ve laid a lot of shit in that Frying Pan D’Orazio either you deliver or you start eating your fried turds. 😉🤣

I still think Humphrey is extremely unlikely to happen. Not ruling it out though.

But if it doesn't, we have 10 + 11 to either move up this year or get another F1.

F1 + a pick in the 40's from North or Demons, I've said time and time again should be the priority if Humphrey is not possible.

Last resort, 10 + 11 for 6 + 21 from Ess.

21 + 22 will give us all the points we need.

6 will get us a shot at Grjl, Lindsay, Robey etc.
