They probably do just that. Trade was never going down before Wednesday either wayWell offer your 2026 pick then.

No where near enough, would need to be 1 or 2 players that were top 10-15 players on the Cats list, not ones that struggle to be selected. For me the only players at Geelong who meet our needs and fit in this category are Ollie Dempsey & Gryan Miers.. and i can understand why Mackie doesn't want to let either go.I doubt Bews and Cam Guthrie would be enough and we would gift those players to clubs, we have a bunch of kids who arent ready for AFL and we have our 30 that rotate depending on injuries all want to stay. thats why Swans are favourites to land Curnow
I think the bigger thing is that you always smashed our contested ball winners, that drew our numbers into the contest while leaving your uncontested guys in space. Well be a little better there next year but you'll be no worse10 goal beltings of Geelong? Going to be a bit tougher now without TDK and Charles I'd have thought
AFL want the drama of a deadline day and will hold off the Merrett & Curnow trades so they go right down to the line all for theatrical reasons. They probably do just that. Trade was never going down before Wednesday either way

Sydneys picks are better so this is a meaningless comparison.Sydney's equivalent to Ollie Dempsey or Gryan Miers is a Nick Blakey level of player, why are you not demanding him in a trade?
Do you think Ollie Florent is worth as much in a trade as Dempsey (rising star winner, 35 goals this year, 22 years old) or Miers (widely regarded as one of the best forward half players in the comp, broke goal assist record two seasons ago, rated elite in many categories)?
Sydneys picks are better so this is a meaningless comparison.
Who on earth is reporting that?So picks are more important than players, then?
Because it seems that 11, F1 and Florent will be the offer coming from the Swans. Two picks admittedly better than ours, and an effective salary dump of a player who wasn't in their best team all year...
I see your point however trading players who want to be at the club has a knock on effect with culture and morale.Geelong should trade Neale if they are serious about going one better in 2026. These are the types of tough calls that win Premierships. Neale just doesn't have the footy smarts to be an A grader. Opportunities to get players like Curnow are rare.
Front loaded contract. Absolute bullshit article....All jokes aside, something must seriously have gone terribly wrong between him and Carlton if he's publicly pushing "I'll pay 1 million to leave this place" lines....
Can't see that getting it done eitherSo picks are more important than players, then?

Who on earth is reporting that?
Rowbottom's manager has categorically said he's staying.
Multiple journos reporting over the past 24 hours that Hayward is reluctant to be part of a trade.
Fox Footy's proposed deal even has what I just put forward, plus a worthless F3....
Right... So some clown who works for FOX Footy who's there to generate clicks is now the arbiter on what Carlton will offer?
Blues would laugh at that offer same as they did for Geelong's piss weak package they tabled last week.
None of us know for sure, certainly won't be a salary dump in Florent as the key piece of it.Don't shoot the messenger. I am just relaying what is being reported.
What player/s are you expecting aside from Florent, then?
Pick 11 in a draft with a terrible top end.So picks are more important than players, then?

Not that much better than what we offered, reallyPick 11 in a draft with a terrible top end.
Probably pick 12-15 next year before matching etc.
A non best 22 player.
Bargain for the Swans if they can get away with it.
But Carlton have to suffer through having Florent/Hayward types taking up list spots and salary cap space. Not that much better than what we offered, really
Did Hayward magically become a spud overnight somehow? But Carlton have to suffer through having Florent/Hayward types taking up list spots and salary cap space.

Hayward is okay.Did Hayward magically become a spud overnight somehow?
Both are AFL-quality players that would add a lot to the Carlton team. Florent provides run and distribution off HB and Hayward is one of the best mid-sized forwards in the AFL. Can do work on the ground and is good on the lead and/or when marking overheard for his size. Beautiful kick as well. But Carlton have to suffer through having Florent/Hayward types taking up list spots and salary cap space.
