Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Where is the basketbball? And stairs?

Charlie will probably get injured walking to the final stage of his medical after we’ve just agreed a 3 team trade sending Hayward, Florent, Humphrey and a F1 our way.

Charlie spends every moment he is not obliged to be in Melbourne down in the Torquay area.

Family, surfing, mates are very very very important to him.

Sydney would mean he seems much less of his family than he does now.

I get the sense his preference for Geelong was followed by daylight, and then Sydney/GCS.

Is there a scenario where (assuming Geelong don't come up with a satisfactory offer for Carlton), once he realises his only non-Carlton option is in Sydney ,far away from family, that he gets cold feet on the whole thing and ends up staying at Carlton?
I actually saw him at the bowls club in Torquay Saturday night with Ed and a few others.
The chef who had the night off is a mad Carlton supporter so we took a photo of Charlie in her kitchen.
He was happy to oblige.
Terrific fella.

I don't know if anyone has done similar but here's my opinion on a fair possible 3 way trade:

Carlton: Lose Curnow, 10; gain Humphrey, Hayward, Syd F1 and F2
Syd: Gain Curnow, GC F2; lose Hayward, 11, F1, F2
GC: Lose Humphrey, F2; gain Car 10, Syd 11

Rationale:

Humphrey will cost multiple decent picks to pry loose but reports say he is keen to get to the Blues.

Suns are already rumored to be looking to package multiple R1 picks to move up the order for West Coast pick 2 or 3.

Carlton are rumored to be keen on using the TDK compo for a player trade rather than the draft - Humphrey looks a likely target. The Sydney 2026 picks are invaluable with Cody Walker on the way in a strong draft.

Swans get their man with just enough extra sweetener to unlock everything while staying in R2 next year.

Removing Humphrey - Swans offer of Hayward, 11, F1 and F2 might fly on its own but feels like they'd need something back. And it's circulating that we don't really want to take 10 to the draft, so why would we want to secure 11 - we'd rather guarantee the player we want, or else it's no deal.

That's why I think adding GC helps unlock this trade

Reading between the lines on the latest trade talk update to do with us...

Looks like Sydney are trying to convince Florent and Hayward to leave.

Reckon this is the hold up in the CC deal.

We'll probably get two firsts, Florent and Hayward for CC and change.

Don't really want Florent.

Gut feel is we either take the two first round picks plus a solid B-grader from the Swans or Curnow stays; can't see GCS letting go of Humphrey after the firm language used at the start of the week.
If this was the case feels like deal would of been done last week regarding the b grader and 2 first round picks.
Swans have said a 3rd club will be involved

I know right? From a team that has 3 195+cm Key Forwards already on their list.

Anyone who suggests this is living in fatasy land.

I think McDonald and 11 for 2 and some later stuff is realistic. Pick 2 is very attractive to us

Pick 2 and F1 and 2 players would be a good deal for us

He can fall off his skateboard after he signs the contract!

We don't want fair

In an ideal world, we get a king's ransom from Sydney and somehow turn that and other assets into something like Humphrey and Walter, but I don't think that's going to happen.

I think Charlie will end up getting traded. We will get a mix of players and picks. None of them on their own will be game-changing, but it will be a combination of someone like Hayward (who would slot well into our forward line), maybe getting a pick before Dean, getting a F1 to help with Cody, giving us a pick for Buku and maybe another asset.

Overall we will lose on huge talent and get a bunch of mild-medium upgrades across the list. It will look like a loss, but the sum of the parts might be an overall upgrade.
