Geelong should trade Neale if they are serious about going one better in 2026. These are the types of tough calls that win Premierships. Neale just doesn't have the footy smarts to be an A grader. Opportunities to get players like Curnow are rare.
you know Neale is just as good as Max King goals to games Neale does need improvement but if he doesnt want to go we cant force him.

Here we go

Go time indeed. No doubt it is him doing his due dilligence on Sydney but also drives home how serious he is to get out.
One day we may find out why 3 best 22 players all wanted out at the same time. Voss can't be happy having a weaker team surely.

Graham Wright is a seasoned operater so there will be a plan.
They might get upgrades and that's what you'd be doing, upgrading your first to an area that's acceptable by Carlton. Now Carlton have set the price and they have the right to do this.
You're talking nonsense again.

Some fringe player isn't going to be the paperweight that turns an early 20s pick into top 10. It had to be a best 22 player and none have come forward, and they're not tapping anyone on the shoulder.

Hence the free run at him the Swans now possess.

Hayward is okay.

He's kicked 30 goals in a season twice. He gets the ball 11 times a game and is a solid user. Not really a needle mover.
Comparable output to Close.

1.25 goals + 0.44 assists career (WH) vs 0.85 goals + 0.89 assists (BC).
But both still better than what the blues have in their forward end comparably.

But not exactly the top talent that was asked for at the beginning of the trade period. Nor is Florent.
Both players would improve them in the role they'd be playing but does it offset losing a coleman medallist. Doubtful.

Sydney's equivalent to Ollie Dempsey or Gryan Miers is a Nick Blakey level of player, why are you not demanding him in a trade?

Do you think Ollie Florent is worth as much in a trade as Dempsey (rising star winner, 35 goals this year, 22 years old) or Miers (widely regarded as one of the best forward half players in the comp, broke goal assist record two seasons ago, rated elite in many categories)?
That is simply not true. Blakey is a top 3-5 player in the Sydney side so the Cats equivalent is Max Holmes or Bailey Smith Sydney also have better draft picks available to give Carlton than Geelong.

surprised Amarty’s name hasn’t been floated for trade to unlock the Curnow trade. Teams like Melbourne, Nth, Essendon and Collingwood might give up something that can help the deal.

The equivalent to Holmes or Smith is Gulden or Warner.

Dempsey and Miers both finished top 7 in Geelong's B&F this season, in a GF side.
Blakey finished 7th in Sydney's B&F.

Cool, Florent finished 10th in the Skilton in our 2022 GF side so from the sounds of this should be able to get the job done.

No player is going to offset Curnow leaving in the short term - it will be about the sum of the parts.

Did Hayward magically become a spud overnight somehow?
You know how it works on BigFooty. If a player goes to Carlton or looks like they're going to, they're instantly bog average, but if they leave Carlton they're suddenly stars.

All the Carlton fans here are saying it won't get done with Florent + picks.
FWIW Brad Close was 7th in our 2022 B&F too but we aren't thinking he could be a critical piece of a high value trade.

If Hayward was involved it might be a different story?

LOL 95% of Bigfooty is mocking St Kilda for overpaying for TDK and JSOS.

Absolutely nobody is claiming the Saints ripped off Carlton for these two awesome generational talents.

doubt Charlie is heading there if he's not interested ... I'd say a deal has been agreed on.

You'd want to hope so, Curnow is apparently happy to lose a million bucks if he gets to leave. He will not be a happy boy at Carlton next year. Take what you can get and run.

What do sydney do with mcdonald, amartey and mcclean? Surely have to move on one of them right?

A good question.

Amartey has probably shown the most and is the best of the 3 right now, but historically he misses too many games with injury.

McLean the best 2nd ruck/forward option. Had zero preseason and struggled all year.

I still think McDonald will eventually be the best of the three, up until this year he looked the more durable option.

My guess is Charlie in will certainly push one of them out of either the team or the list , otherwise maybe Logan could go down back (which was the whisper earlier in the year) but who knows in all honesty as
we apparently wanted to keep Jack Buller on top of that before he requested the Pies trade

As a Carlton fan I would rather he plays VFL for the next 4 years than give him to Geelong on the cheap and help them win a flag.
