Florent is a C grader, Hayward is a lower tier B grader. Sydney are doing a number on Carlton if those players add serious weight to the deal. Both are AFL-quality players that would add a lot to the Carlton team. Florent provides run and distribution off HB and Hayward is one of the best mid-sized forwards in the AFL. Can do work on the ground and is good on the lead and/or when marking overheard for his size. Beautiful kick as well.
Let it go Mate…Geelong played their part.Florent is a C grader, Hayward is a lower tier B grader. Sydney are doing a number on Carlton if those players add serious weight to the deal.
I'm not going to bother disputing the grades as we clearly disagree on the players' value. But this is a significantly better offer than the one provided by the Cats if it comes with two first rounders. This will probably be the biggest trade offer we have ever seen for a player - two first rounders and two AFL quality players would be very rare.Florent is a C grader, Hayward is a lower tier B grader. I hope the trade goes through. Sydney win it by a long way.Let it go Mate…Geelong played their part.

Carlton were never going to replace Curnow as an individual in this trade. The goal is to try and get better overall with the sum of parts. Two players that improve our 23 in two different positions and two first round draft picks which would give us five at our disposal in 2025/6.
It makes Carlton significantly worse and Sydney significantly better for the next 4 years.I'm not going to bother disputing the grades as we clearly disagree on the players' value. Sold!I think it lands something like this:
Carlton give: Charlie Curnow, 2026 2nd round pick
Carlton get: Pick 11, 2026 first round pick, Will Hayward
I didn't say Carlton should have taken Geelong's offer. Just that Sydney walk out of this deal laughing if accepted. They're an astute club with this sort of thing and you're right, people assume Geelong will be top 2/4 while Sydney won't - we will see on that one. It’s still a better deal than Geelong pick 11 this year plus let’s say 13-14 (at best) next year is way more than the Cats offered. Thats if you believe we are jumping up the ladder I am hardly confident
We won't use Pick 11 in this draft imo. It would just get absorbed in a Dean bid which is expected before that point. If we have enough points remaining for Dean/Ison we might try and move 10+11 up ahead of a bid?It makes Carlton significantly worse and Sydney significantly better for the next 4 years.
Florent is genuinely a mediocre back flanker who can't defend.
Hayward's best is quite good but he has cleared 30 goals in a season only twice, and 50 goals/assists once. Never even been in AA squad of 44 discussions let alone being selected.
The picks are solid. This is a terrible draft to have pick 11, and Sydney will finish top 8 or maybe top 4 next year.
Sydney will do very well if they get this over the line.
Is that because you are angry that Carlton wouldn’t let Charlie go to Geelong?I hope the trade goes through. Sydney win it by a long way.

You're kind of deranged so if it's okay I think we should talk to each other less often. Is that because you are angry that Carlton wouldn’t let Charlie go to Geelong?
It makes Sydney comfortably better and Carlton comfortably worse for the next 3 years. In 5 to 6 years Carlton may see the benefits via the picks. But keeping Curnow against his will wasn't a good idea either so Carlton were in a lose/lose situation from the start. It’s a fair deal. 2 firsts one significantly higher this year. Next years first to be used for Walker. Plus two players that walk into a Carlton side tomorrow it’s way better.

New to LP are we? Usually a good reverse barometer. It makes Sydney comfortably better and Carlton comfortably worse for the next 3 years. In 5 to 6 years Carlton may see the benefits via the picks.
