A bit Meh. No "A" grade pick or player
Outs better than ins
but more depth
Outs better than ins but higher picks.

Surely we trade 11 for a third 2026 1st rounder and change? I don't know how we can trade up this year for a pick worth having and still have the points for Dean and Ison. Unless Essendon pays up big for both of our 2027 firsts.

How many list spots can we have?

We’ve lost 7 players: Curnow, TDK, Silvagni, Durdin, Fantasia, Lemmey, and Cincotta [rookie]

We’ve gained 5 players: Reidy, Chesser, Ainsworth, Florent, Hayward

We have 3 SSP/MSD players on the list (F. Young, White and Evans all on the rookie list) - you’d imagine Evans takes Cincotta’s spot

Leaving McGovern, White and F. Young out of contract with a minimum 2 picks coming in this draft (Dean, Ison)

I think I’d rather have White and F. Young on the list over Binns, Boyd or Fogarty… but can we afford to do that?

Apologies if I’ve missed anyone/thing out, posting from my phone off the top of my head
You can add Young to the list clogger group.I still fail to see his value. What a waste.Only one year left before he goes.

B: Cowan Weitering Saad
HB: Florent Haynes Newman
C: Chesser Cripps Walsh
HF: Ainsworth Kemp Hayward
F: Evans McKay O'Keefe
R: Pitt Cerra Hewett

I/C: O.Hollands, Smith, Lord, Carroll, Motlop

Immediate questions are:

is Pitt or Reidy is primary ruck rotating with HOK and occasionally Harry?

Is Haynes at CHB ok? Or do we need to work a different Key defender in.

Do we see McGovern or Acres back?

EDIT: how the **** do I forget Frank?

So we lose 60-70 goals per season in CC, replaced with 30-40 with Hayward and 20-30 with Ainsworth. BUT if we can keep H fit that’s another 50-60 goals there. Hoping some natural progression for motlop and tank. That’s looking like a decent forward line. Now for the delivery….

Think we're better with Haynes freed up and another tall - O'Keefe/Young/Dean.

I'd have Williams on the bench over Motlop too

What do you call it when you trade away your best player and let a bunch of other veterans walk as free agents, leaving the team deliberately uncompetitive, all so that you can invest heavily in draft picks over a 2-3 year period?

I know this one... Yep, there it is... Rebuild Time!!!

No one does this better than Carlton, either. Give it 12 months and we'll be up to our ankles in green shoots!

Are you ok?

This is a completely unreasonable interpretation of a trade period that has involved bringing in 3 best 22 players

I don’t know what 2026 holds for our team but what I am sure of is that we have reset our list in 1 off season, added some really quality players to our list as well as set ourselves up for future drafts and trades.

Ecstatic we got Chesser and rate him highly, but then adding Hayward, Florent and Ainsworth and we have completely flipped the script and delivered a much faster and dynamic list. Reidy too looks like he could surprise.

I’m expecting we try and move up the draft board with picks 9 and 11 and it wouldn’t surprise me if we also trade a future 1st into this draft

I wonder what no Buku means for McGovern?

I hope we don’t delist Elj and give him one more chance. If he does stuff up again, Put him on the long term injury list.
Elj had his chances and broke a cardinal rule. Even though a serious talent has caused friction from within and wouldn't be surprised if paid out for team harmony.

We lose some key position players
But bring in some solid flankers with speed and skill who will go straight into our 23

Still think we become a heavy front of stoppage handball team. Drive forward hard use our new runners.
Short kicks no more long bombs.

Re “no more long bombs”

Thank f*** for that 😂😂😂😂

Did my head in every week!!!!

It's not rebuild time when you have highly rated father/son selections to pay for.

Were Brisbane rebuilding when they had to match bids for the Ashcroft brothers or Annable this year?

We also lifted our floor and improved our run game greatly.

This has just identified gaps and addressed them.

Charlie was only our best player occasionally also.

Not really sure what your point is.

If you were the List Manager what would you have done?

A key forward who can step in and be ready to play should something happen to Harry should be the biggest priority outside of managing the assets necessary to draft Dean and Ison.
Probably a delisted free agent. Not sure who the most likely candidates would be.

Also Doc retired.

Does anyone know how many list spots are actually available? And in which categories?

Bit light on for height both forward and back. We might have to look for mature agers like Phillips, Charlie Dean etc. Acres is contacted I believe so he stays. No Khamis means we probably give Gov a year too.

My take:
B: Cowan, Weitering, Haynes
HB: Newman, mature ager, Saad
C: Chesser, Cripps, Florent
HF: Ainsworth, McKay, Hayward
F: Motlop, O'Keefe, Williams
R: Reidy, Walsh, Hewett

IC: Cerra, Jagga, Ollie, Evans, Kemp

Notes:
-Think we might go with the Reidy and HOK combo as both are better than Pitto forward and with there being no sub rule in 2026.
-We probably need to find a mature ager KPP defender instead of relying on Dean coming in and playing a hard position as a first year player or having to play L. Young. Structurally this would allow Haynes to play as an interceptor.
-Wings have more run and carry and better disposal. Acres stays on as depth but will still get plenty of games I think. Binns may even get a chance to play for his career if we have an injury here. L. Campo has to keep developing in the reserves.
-Forwards have the most competition for spots with guys like Moir, Kemp, Evans, Cottrell fighting it out. I have Kemp just ahead of Moir at this stage for his flexibility to also play back if needed but Moir should get plenty of games.
-HOK starting full forward is a concern. Not sure we can find a mature ager decent enough to take this spot and I don't want to go in too short. Think he's needed there for structure. With McKay being our only true KPP forward we can't risk him in the ruck.
-Lij is best 22 if we retain him and I hope we do. Would suck to pay out his contract so he can play for another team. Keep him and give him one last chance. Having no other team want him should be the biggest rocket up his backside to pull it together.
-Lord is great backup for an inside mid spot. B. Campo developing in the reserves.
-Carroll, Wilson, etc.hopefully put pressure on our half backs and force their way into the team.
