This thread is more about how Brisbane were too stubborn to take possibly slight unders (or slight overs) for a 28 year old-duel premiership player that averages less than 15 disposals and a goal a game.I get your frustrations (it'd bug me too if i wasn't a Brisbane fan), but father sons is just luck of the draw... You're in the wrong thread for this my friend.
This thread is about Adelaide's failure in not trading in a 2x premiership forward, who they will now try and drag through the PSD...
underpaying a player for years then when he decides to get something for himself after getting your club the Ultimate prize, and then they hang him out to dry by pushing him to the PSD, isn’t “rating him highly”Everyone at Brisbane loves Cal and rates him really highly... it's Adelaide that clearly don't... they just like him because he's "free". Bit sad really. At least he'll be paid really well!
Stubborn??? More like arrogance pricks lead by the King of pricks who just wanted to "win the trade" with his 2027 F2 request as well. This thread is more about how Brisbane were too stubborn to take possibly slight unders (or slight overs) for a 28 year old-duel premiership player that averages less than 15 disposals and a goal a game.
Dom "the prick" might have a chance to re-sign him if they increase their 4 years at $600K offer but after that interview and how pissed off Ah Chee is, highly doubtful.underpaying a player for years then when he decides to get something for himself after getting your club the Ultimate prize, and then they hang him out to dry by pushing him to the PSD, isn’t “rating him highly”
Either pay the bloke what he’s worth, or let him leave, cal doesn’t give a shit about draft picks, it has nothing to do with him, all that matters to him now is his family and his future. Footy isn’t forever

No lmao.I get your frustrations (it'd bug me too if i wasn't a Brisbane fan), but father sons is just luck of the draw... You're in the wrong thread for this my friend.

whatNot to this extreme, but in the 2015 draft you lot were able pick up 3 early picks (sub 25), hipwood, keays and josh schache(who was pick 2 from vic) when they had a single first and a few late seconds around the 40 range. I’m sure there’s probably an instance where they’ve done the exact same, but don’t really care to put in the effort to go through every draft and trade period since academies were introduced.
Plus, was able to essentially get pick 1 last year (Levi would have been pick 1 but clubs too scared to bid early on f/s incase they hurt others feelings)while also picking up sam Marshall, another first rounder, through academy, after you just won the premiership and came into draft night with the highest pick being 27.
Either have father sons or academies, don’t double dip
he never said that at allNo lmao.
This thread is now about Brisbane's refusal to trade Ah Chee for anything but overs. An uncontracted 28 year old role player who has had only two good seasons and never finished in your top 10. Your list manager admitted they would rather keep trying to re-sign him than trade him. Arrogant and disrespectful to Ah Chee who has done everything right by you.
""Our main aim has been trying to retain him the whole time. We put a lot of effort into that. We put a long-term deal to him. At the end of the journey, I don't think there was that much difference between the deals. We think he's a great player and we'd love to have him around. He'll be disappointed, I'm disappointed for him. But at the end of the day, it was largely out of our control." - Brisbane list manager Dom Ambrogio"he never said that at all
whatI must say, I'm genuinely amused to see Brisbane fans having a sook over this considering they got an AFL assistance package, courtesy of WCE, for Starvevich.
Unreal.
It was so stupid. A bigger issue for Freo is they wouldn't add the WAFL & AFL games together for the Dad's who Freo pulled out of the WAFL. So basically it ruled out any F/S for 30 years as they had already scoped it out as what happened to Adelaide with the 200 game rule + no adding together with ratio's etc.Going to say the exact same thing I’ve already said on here. Look at the father son game requirement for SA, now compare that to WA, then to Vic.
Brisbane benefit off the Vic scheme, since they used to be Fitzroy.
Why is one state 200 games, vs 150, vs 100? So yeah, I guess when a father son for that actually plays AFL for Adelaide, which has happened once in history rolls around, I guess that’s too much
Okay. Less option for what?I said I would have given it just to see mpal6's head explode with the continuous "1st rounder or nothing" lol. But list manager don't want to trade consecutive F2 as it give them less option to work with.
you didnt post the follow up quote when it was asked about trying to keep him but good try""Our main aim has been trying to retain him the whole time. We put a lot of effort into that. Haven't really seen any Brisbane fans sooking, only Adelaide fans repeatedly calling Dom Ambrogio a prick in frustration.I must say, I'm genuinely amused to see Brisbane fans having a sook over this considering they got an AFL assistance package, courtesy of WCE, for Starvevich.
Unreal.
Don’t you mean pick 20You do know Dawson wasn't a dual AA when he was traded otherwise he would have went for 2 1st rounders with one of them in the top 10, pick 14 was fair value at that time.
We asked for an exemption to not affect our FA compensation, which your former CEO refused in lieu of manufacturing a first round draft pick for Brisbane.what
your club chose to trade! has nothing to do with us
I'm not aware of any follow-up quote. Just relaying what was in the article. You're welcome inform me.you didnt post the follow up quote when it was asked about trying to keep him but good try
It was pick 14 before ND, Sydney traded the pick to the Hawks and there were matched bids.Don’t you mean pick 20
watch the entire videoI'm not aware of any follow-up quote. Just relaying what was in the article. You're welcome inform me.
you could have of taken Starc as a free agent, you chose not to, once again nothing to do with usWe asked for an exemption to not affect our FA compensation, which your former CEO refused in lieu of manufacturing a first round draft pick for Brisbane.
Interesting that after the package was announced, Twomey stated the AFL was probably going to implement what we requested in future.
You got your compo package from your former CEO. Be grateful.
Trading it to move up our 1st rounder in 2026 or 2027.Okay. Less option for what?

Guess how many Adelaide have had.
Essendon didn't ask for compo. You asked for an exemption to be applied when there was already a mechanism in place for this exact situation.
Essendon traded for Fiorini (an unrestricted free agent) to not dilute their Draper compensation. They had to do that with their own picks instead of a priority pick given to them by the AFL.
Lol no they don't might go and revisit that ? Sa and wa both had worse deals in f/s than all vic and lions and Swans and that's a factFather/Son has nothing to do with the academy. Every club has the same rules in regards to obtaining their F/S selections.
It's not our fault past Adelaide players can't produce offspring that is top 10 pick worthy.
