Lol no they don't might go and revisit that ? Sa and wa both have worse deals in f/s than all vic and lions and Swans and that's a fact

Andrew McLeod qualified, and his kid wasn't any good.

What about other Adelaide stalwarts. Ricciuto, Smart etc. Where are their kids?

Brisbane got lucky because a 300 game player and his wife produced good kids.

Michael Voss is considered one of the best players ever, yet he didn't produce a gun.

Carlton is another example. The Camporeale boys may not turn out as guns.

You can list every club that has good players, but where are their gun kids?

Point still stands. Your past players have failed to produce gun footballers, whereas we have lucked out because one of our guns did.

Didn't you quite literally just draft 2 father son's with another one on the way this year?

By the end of the 2025 draft, Brisbane & Adelaide will have the same amount of father son's on their list.

Well, you might be lucky. They might develop into players on par or better with his dad.

It's pot luck. We got lucky, but we still had to trade out first rounders to get other picks to pick up our gun Ashcroft brothers. We still paid for them, just like any club would have done the same.

The rules for F/S in how you obtain them in the draft is THE SAME for all clubs.

If we take mark Stevens lad Mitchell , yes

You can't read ? Sa and wa had different games totals to qualify for f/s when both games into the afl wa was 150 and adelaide was 200 yet all vic and Swans, lions was i think early on 50 games then it changed to 100
which is not the rules of today so its irrelevant further to that in the last 10 years you've had MORE father sons than brisbane, basically your complaint seems to be your players arent good and ours are

We asked for an exemption to not affect our FA compensation, which your former CEO refused in lieu of manufacturing a first round draft pick for Brisbane.

Interesting that after the package was announced, Twomey stated the AFL was probably going to implement what we requested in future.

You got your compo package from your former CEO. Be grateful.
Why should West Coast get an exemption exactly and how is this Greg Swann's fault? And this involves Ah Chee how?

What clubs and people who complained fail to see now is because of the Ashcroft boys being guns and us being on top, the whinging has led to a rule change which makes it harder for all 18 clubs to obtain their F/S players.
You can blame the saints for that God I hope reiwoldt sons are guns and cant play for saints that will be poetic justice watching them bitch and moan to change the rules back

At least we can find some common ground on this.

Both the Academies & Father Son's system needs to be tweaked for fairer acquisitions. What that looks like, I cannot say without doing more research as to what "fair" should be but it's evident that the "points" system has been circumnavigated by clubs who have been in the position to acquire Academy players or Father Son's.

Doesn't mean that either should be scrapped altogether though or this nonsense of blocking FS out of the first round.

Yep. F/S are lottery tickets. Being a gun player doesn't automatically mean their kids will be guns, but I agree with you, that for the Riewoldt boys, I hope they are guns and St.Kilda can't get them.

You guys are funny. Only talk in top 10 picks now you have had so much free talent. You got free early 2nd rounders and then by getting a lot of academy talent in the 10-40 zone, it allowed you to use all your picks to bring in known A graders rather than doing everything through the draft. It's the flexibility that basically got you them for free or at a huge discount.

Most other clubs have to spend years worth or give up good players too.

You just distorted the draft with a pick 2 pickup in Allen. See above.

Nah, see above. You would have gotten Neale but you never have the picks for Dunkley or Cameron without being able to get free hits from academy, pp's and now F/S's. You probably still get to flag territory but the AFL has now allowed you to build a monster that can lose late 2nd rounders for fun. It's like the GC use to but with a flag team.
So if what you are saying about the "free" picks or hits (totally not free fyi, the bidding system, which was agree to by all clubs at its implementation, prevents "free" picks from occuring) from our academy access is true. Then the top 4 should have been the Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney and GWS. Considering this isn't the case and in fact has never been the case in the history of the "Northern Academies", then you have to consider that Brisbane have been succesful because of club management and the intangables like player motivation, drive and will.

If I were to buy into your theory that our success has been handed to us througth "free" (so not free, cause we had to trade out of the first round to amass those "free" picks) then you would have surely seen the Gold Coast win a prenireship by now cause they have secured plenty of "free" picks( so not free. All the first and second round picks that were traded out by clubs who run Northern Academy's, were traded in by the clubs who benefited by moving up the draft ) and since that is not the case, then you have to conclude that maybe your theory is flawed and that their are more variables and elements that have to align to form a succesful footy club then just "free" picks ( totally not free. The Academy costs millions of dollars to run and that is funded /paid for by the clubs who run them)

Your theory is flawed cause even if you wete to hand a club a wealth of first and second round picks over multiple years, there is still no guarantee of success.....I only wish there was a recent example of this.... hhhhm

If dom is apparently a prick for wanting a fair trade whats that make reid an asehole
Club accept slight unders for uncontracted player, Dom "the prick" should be grateful Reid even offered him a fair trade in the first place and then even added a F3 cause Dom "the prick" was being a prick.
