Geez I wish Hamas and the Zionists would all just get in a room and duke it out.

The world would be a much better place whatever the end result.

We had an Assyrian Bishop stabbed here in 2024 in Australia. There was no noise from these people protesting about Palestine genocide protesting the Assyrians being a stateless people because of genocidal persecution for centuries.

There never will be one for the Armenians either. But that's because they are Christians. And no way will any of these protestors ever protest against a Christian genocide. Their politics wouldn't allow it.

Does the Australian government have a history of supporting the governments responsible for the Armenian genocide and Assyrian persecution?
Are we allies?

Yes, yes we do. We have diplomatic, economic, military and security cooperation with them.

You know your stuff...

We were at war with the Ottomans during the Armenian genocide.

Who were we fighting at Gallipoli?

Yeah the systemic targetting of those cultures didn't stop after that fell.

Throw in the Kurds as well. Another stateless people none of these protestors are out making noise and flying flags over.

Probably why it feels like anti-Jewish sentiment.

Crickets from these protestors on all these other situations. Funny that.

Very disappointing by Carlton. I wonder what their (and the media’s) response would be if Carlton’s mascot walked out of a fundraiser for injured Hamas soldiers…

Consider the Alex Pearce and Bachar Houli incidents over the last two years, it seems like the AFL have a Zionist problem.

Very concerning

Legitimately got reversed rage baited into forgetting and leaving my coffee in the break room before heading out to work by the front page and article trash by the Herald Scum
Imagine being able to spin anything the mascot did into "hate"

Sounds like he left before even suiting up so none of the kids even knew he was there to begin with

So you never buy anything made in China then?

China is credibly accused of having comitted human rights violations towards Uyghurs Muslims within its internationally recognised borders. No dispute there. However, since when was Xi Jingping or the CCP on trial for genocide?

To suggest that buying Chinese products as being a political endorsement of Chinese governmental policies is a reductive, asinine argument. Boycotting Chinese-made products is practically impossible given how embedded China is in global supply chains.

Taking a morally principled stand against a fund-raiser covertly running in parallel to the actual reason one has been hired to be in attendance - a fund-rasier seeking to generate money to send to an occupation force - is extremely admirable.

To invoke some whataboutism regarding China is simply a cartoonishly comical false equivalence, and ignores the differences between what could ever be practically achieved. Nobody is boycotting China and making a dent. Enough people in the West can boycott Israel and it eventually will, though.

What you're advocating for here is complete, 100 percent purity from all morally malevolent state policies (completely unachievable with China), and any less than that reduces someone's withdrawal from personal complicity by pushing back against funding that goes directly towards an institution actively comitting a genocide as hypocritical?

Right. 🙃

Yes but you're buying that bullshit without any evidence that it was an IDF fundraiser.

I don't trust a lot on the left to be liars when it comes to Jewish people.

Needs receipts please.

So, as long as you're getting cheap Chinese goods you're ok with how the Chinese very effectively committed a genocide on 3 million Uyghurs?

Got it :thumbsu:

It does seem a little strange to me though.

We got monthly protests in Melbourne for Palestine.

Around 13,000 civilians have been murdered by Russia from their unprovoked war. Over a thousand children included.

1: where is the outrage and monthly protests?

2: how many that attend the monthly protests for Palestine either secretly or openly support Russia’s nightly bombings of Ukraine? I suspect there are quite a few.
