We had an Assyrian Bishop stabbed here in 2024 in Australia. There was no noise from these people protesting about Palestine genocide protesting the Assyrians being a stateless people because of genocidal persecution for centuries.
There never will be one for the Armenians either. But that's because they are Christians. And no way will any of these protestors ever protest against a Christian genocide. Their politics wouldn't allow it.

Does the Australian government have a history of supporting the governments responsible for the Armenian genocide and Assyrian persecution?
Are we allies?
Yes, yes we do. We have diplomatic, economic, military and security cooperation with them.
You know your stuff...
Hey!! There's nothing wrong with wearing a big footy mascot costume! It's cool!About what you’d expect from a bloke whose job is to just walk around wearing a costume
Hello SkeetaHey!! There's nothing wrong with wearing a big footy mascot costume! It's cool!

your captain didn't need sacked he couldn't get away from your mob quick enough. After all the shit with Zac Merrett I didn't think Carlton would beat Essendon to sacking their Captain.
So you never buy anything made in China then?

Taking a morally principled stand against a fund-raiser covertly running in parallel to the actual reason one has been hired to be in attendance - a fund-rasier seeking to generate money to send to an occupation force - is extremely admirable.
China is credibly accused of having comitted human rights violations towards Uyghurs Muslims within its internationally recognised borders. No dispute there. However, since when was Xi Jingping or the CCP on trial for genocide?
To suggest that buying Chinese products as being a political endorsement of Chinese governmental policies is a reductive, asinine argument. Boycotting Chinese-made products is practically impossible given how embedded China is in global supply chains.

To invoke some whataboutism regarding China is simply a cartoonishly comical false equivalence, and ignores the differences between what could ever be practically achieved. Nobody is boycotting China and making a dent. Enough people in the West can boycott Israel and it eventually will, though.
What you're advocating for here is complete, 100 percent purity from all morally malevolent state policies (completely unachievable with China), and any less than that reduces someone's withdrawal from personal complicity by pushing back against funding that goes directly towards an institution actively comitting a genocide as hypocritical?
