That would be the end of me

At least I'd finally be gold, but surely not. They already don't want members getting GF tickets. Then again they could make more money without offering anything so I wouldn't put it past them.100% it results in increasing gold to 35K, which will exacerbate every problem I currently have
Where does it say you have until May 31 to pay?You have until May 31 to pay so they won't know till then who hasn't renewed for 2026. Which is why the July upgrades made sense.
21.1 Gold Membership: Gold Membership is the highest level of AFL Membership, capped at 30,000 Members and available for purchase only to existing Gold Members. The AFL will offer Gold Membership to selected Silver Members for an upgrade to Gold Membership intermittently, subject to availability, and with the number of offers dependent on the retention of existing Gold Members. When issuing offers for new Gold Memberships, priority will be given to Silver Members based on their period of time spent on the waitlist.Where does it say you have until May 31 to pay?
That's generous.

With the membership department clamping down and forcing golds to pay up every year, the slow movement on the waitlist may now be the norm and not the exception. I think it will soon be faster to get MCC provisional than AFL Gold21.1 Gold Membership: Gold Membership is the highest level of AFL Membership, capped at 30,000 Members and available for purchase only to existing Gold Members. Gold Members must renew their membership prior to 31 May 2026 to maintain their Gold Membership entitlements for the 2026 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. Due to limited availability of Gold Memberships, Gold Members who do not renew their AFL Membership as ‘Gold Members’ will:
- lose access to their Gold Membership;
- be required rejoin the waitlist process for Silver and Gold Memberships as a new Bronze Member; and
- will only be eligible to obtain Gold Membership status through the ordinary process, as is required for all members.

Allowing absentee for no reason before was ridiculous, but so is not allowing it when someone has a genuine reason, such as living overseas. With the membership department clamping down and forcing golds to pay up every year, the slow movement on the waitlist may now be the norm and not the exception. Maybe they should clamp down on people on selling their GF tickets to cover the cost of their memberships so it is less lucrative for them to renew every year. With the membership department clamping down and forcing golds to pay up every year, the slow movement on the waitlist may now be the norm and not the exception. You’re assuming that those extra 5,000 would be from the next 5,000 silver members on the waitlist.100% it results in increasing gold to 35K, which will exacerbate every problem I currently have
Dealing with security anywhere is always an episode in wondering where it all went wrong, but the Marvel security were something else this year.Disgraceful and the Marvel security were much happier with people who had physical cards entering the members bar, made life much easier.
I'll go another year and see but I'm just about over it. I am about 3500 though so a bit closer.I have been signed up for 11 years and I am 8136 in the que... is anyone seriously thinking of not doing it next year? As its bloody getting to a point its years away now
If I wasn't gold, I'd give up.I have been signed up for 11 years and I am 8136 in the que... is anyone seriously thinking of not doing it next year? As its bloody getting to a point its years away now

Does anyone know why they are saying there is minimal movement next year?
Yeah im seriously thinking of giving up. Its not worth it. I could be really looking at another 12-15 years to get Gold, and paying the money i am for Silver its not worth itIf I wasn't gold, I'd give up.
Just get an equiv club membership and then buy kids tickets to go to other games.
Yep i think yoyr on the moneyif you only go to Geelong games then I dont think it is worth it. I assume the equivalent tier of Geelong membership that gets you guaranteed grand final tickets also gets you better seats/facilities at GMHBA?

Is there an explanation as to why? I find it hard to believe that only 300 of 30000 Golds dropped off. Is it a reduction in Gold, absentees returning, something else?from aflma meeting with afl
not good reading
The number of Silver members that will be offered an upgrade to Gold members for 2026 is less than 300.
Approximately 1,000 Bronze members will be offered an upgrade to Silver membership for 2026. (Silver membership is capped at 25,000)
It was confirmed that the initial date of application for AFL membership is directly associated to the waiting list queue number for upgrade to Gold membership.
Currently the waiting list queue number is at a slow crawl and is only up to those applications for AFL membership received in early 2011
With collingwood applications even worse crawl coming
During the year, the number of Absentee members dropping out was low in numbers. Is there an explanation as to why? I find it hard to believe that only 300 of 30000 Golds dropped off. Is it a reduction in Gold, absentees returning, something else?
