I think if Essendon played it smart, gave him a contract that frontloaded the absolute crap out of 2026 he would have jumped. Its missing that 1 year gap now that hurts them

Its a change that is needed by teams. Target those with 12 months to go in a deal by giving them a buttload of cash upfront.

If Essendon gave Weddle say 2.5 mill in 2026 to sign (which they likely could have done once Draper and Merrett left) then Weddle takes the first taxi to Windy Hill for sure
