I’d rather the boys be fit than big and bulky.

Many would be 1-2kg heavier which wouldn’t show up in pics unless there’s the right angles and lighting/filters.

Only ones I would want to see bigger are the 2/3 year guys, which most of them have.

Would’ve loved to see FOS, Zane and Colby be a bit more muscular but oh well.

Did the boys forget the golden rule of the off season..."curls get the girls"..
I don't think it's too much to expect highly paid professional athletes to rein in their eating enough to not visually be carrying more body fat by the time pre season rolls around.

Literally just track your eating and burn enough calories to offset it if you have a big day, it's not a huge ask.

Aussie track and field athletes would kill for these guys' wages.

You're probably right. No expert myself, so I'll see what transpires come the season.

I heard at the time that pickering asked for 2 extra weeks of pre-season so he could play district cricket, so Schimma packaged him up in a deal they were already doing and said see ya later. Not sure if true but I reckon he won Geelong's bnf a few years later, could have been a handy addition to a bloody strong North team.

Also…

Leigh Tudor would have been a handy addition anywhere but there THAT day.

Big agree. Konstanty, Parker, X and Sheez the only ones standing out as in good nick. Hard to tell with Whitlock's size given he's so lean but at least he didn't get too fat. Half of them appear to have gone up a few body fat notches too. Sadly about the same rate as my local club as to who's in decent shape and who isn't after the off season.
Yeah it's a bit of a head scratcher... I go gym every day now isolating each part of the body to concentrate on as a guy that does it coz why not. Legs, arms, chest, back with cardio mixed into all except leg day 😅. Whilst working full-time in a place that has no gym in sight. These guys have a gym literally in front of them.

I get that they need time off, but if you're a true professional, its impossible to not resist the temptation to still put some form of routine in place despite being on holidays. I'm sure they do something, but is it enough? How do we know it's better than what other clubs are doing? Is their body aching after a decent shift? Did they push to very, very last rep they could do before they went 'that's enough'. What are the targets, milestones, how much weight do they need to cut before it turns into muscle? Do they need to bulk?

The hunger comes from within not external. Coming from someone that weighed 105kgs and got a reality check before slimming down to low 90s. Now I'm hooked on what I do, what I eat, when I have a cheat day etc.

But yeah... premierships come from guys that train like animals. Even during the off-season. I'm concerned we're gonna have another rough season because we have too many players that just can't hold that extra tackle, get that second effort in because they are simply not in a physique to handle it. Not asking the boys to overwork themselves, but thats what will happen on gameday because they simply can't handle the bigger bodies. Prepare now, prosper later with a flag and a few beers to celebrate.

It is what it is.
