Doesn't work because there is 3 big states instead of 2, and still a decent gap in talent production between Vic and WA/SA
You almost need an allies team and make it a double header, but then that dilutes the interest on each game further.

Vic Country
Vic Metro
WA

Oh Harley in the Big V where he belongs you love to see it! Imagine watching him play at the G in a blockbuster for one of the big 4 teams every weekend wouldn't that be something? Would be great for the game that's what it would be! Speaking of great for the game how's All Australian captain Jezza?! Just love the way he goes about it!

Ohhhhhh mate... it's gooood fer fooddy.

It's not lost on me that if this happened a few years ago, the WA spine would be Rance, McGovern, Naitanui, Kennedy, Franklin.

Convenient, that.

Maybe this is the only way Harley will play for a Victorian team.

A midfield of prime Yeo, Fyfe, Cripps, Cogs, and the Hills on the wings too

Probably the weakest WA team for 20 years currently

Spot on

The Allies being included is partly what killed it off originally

Only really chance of "working" (or generating enough interest) is WA or SA against the Vics.. Even WA v SA no one really cares.
Does it need to be

WA vs SA (swap between WA and SA home game each year)

Winner gets to play VIC (can also rotate between MCG and home game for the other team).

Or is that putting the Vics on too much of a pedestal?

I think everyone that isn’t Victorian wants to put one on them so that format would work (imo).

Only question would be how do you schedule it.

If you wanted to make it annual, then you'd have to have 2 weeks scheduled for it. So the qualifer (WA vs SA) could be in Feb, and then you'd have to tweak the mid season byes a little to put the "final" in there.

Or you do it so the playoff against the vics is every 2nd year in the pre-season slot.
So
2026 - WA vs SA
2027 - Vic vs Winner
2028 - WA vs SA
2029 - Vic vs Winner

So on

What eagles are we expecting to play? Based on nothing I can picture Ginbey, Baker and Reid all being invited
Ginbey won't get a guernsey but Starcevich might.

WA Defence is pretty solid with S.Taylor and Barrass as KPDs, then add in Jordan Clark, Starcevich Baker and Rivers as defence options.

Waterman would be a chance, only if they were going to go 3 talls in the forward line (Naughton and Hogan)

Not sure about Rivers over Ginbey TBH.

Hopefully Baker, Starcevich (maybe not cos concussion risk), Waterman, Ginbey and maybe Hough for WA, Reid for vic.
Hopefully none of them. The most stupid time slot to risk your best players. Middle of Feb! Right in the middle of the most important part of preseason, 3 weeks out from game 1, in 42 degrees and a howling easterly.

When enough big name players pull out expect more local players pulled in to make up numbers / cheaper not to fly anyone else.

See Coen Livingstone playing for the Indigeneous All-Stars as the example there

Wasn’t Coen the only Indigenous ruckman in the game which is why he was picked as the ruck?

Reid isn’t going to get a game for Victoria in SOO

Butters, Bontempelli, Smith, Daicos, McLuggage, Walsh, Merrett, Newcombe, Callaghan, Serong, Brayshaw, Young, Dangerfield, Petracca, Rowell, Anderson are all ahead of him without even giving it much thought

The WA midfield will get obliterated
