Watching gettable just then and I would be stoked with dovaston and Taylor, they are the arrogance and confidence we have lacked for so long. Clearly not private school boys and wouldn’t be suprised if they got in some trouble along they way in there afl journeys but I’m all for it! Sharp can be the level head while these two can be the loose units
No it wouldn’t. If they’re confident that Pickett can play to a high level in 2026, who cares if they’re a year older? It could take Dovaston until he’s 20 or 21 to start playing at a high level, or even longer.Dovaston has a better u18 resume than Kako.
Drafting a 20 year old that high would be the most utterly irresponsible thing us or any other club could do.
The arrogance to tell redman that he would play in our backline because our backline needs some work is the exact attitude we need, no sugar coating just straight to the point! If you’re playing like shit he’ll be the first to tell you to get your finger out your ass.very much agreed - pairing those two (or Robey/Dovaston) would be excellent

The more important question would be who they believe has a higher ceiling long-term and I think most would suggest that would be Dovaston. No it wouldn’t. If they’re confident that Pickett can play to a high level in 2026, who cares if they’re a year older? It could take Dovaston until he’s 20 or 21 to start playing at a high level, or even longer.
A 20 year old can still play for 15 years, and an 18 year old can potentially only last three. Hobbs only got four.
Twomey got some tigers picks wrong last year.Twomey said something to the effect that Robey/Taylor seems to be a 50/50 flip between Richmond. He just put Robey there because he seems to fit Richmonds needs more than Taylor
He’s a f****** baller, most obvious player to succeed. People rating Sam Cumming over this guy makes my blood boil, Farrow has to be one of our picks. Robey > Farrow > Taylor > Sharp > Dovostan is the player order I want for us.farrow gives me weddle vibes from what the clips i've seen. skills and athletic profile to play anywhere.
Robey, Sharp and Taylor would be too good to be true.Twomey got some tigers picks wrong last year.
maybe them talking about Cumming and X Taylor is smoke and Mirrors, maybe not.
they could pick any of Taylor, Robey, Cumming, Farrow, Sharp all in contention.
If Tigers went Cumming + Farrow
We could get Robey + X Taylor
Then possibly Sharp at 9. Twomey says the deal for 9 will happen.
Picektt met with Bombers yesterday, along with oskar Taylor. Dovaston last week with X Taylor and Robey.

Why, because he’s younger? I don’t know who has a ‘higher ceiling’ between them, but the insinuation that drafting Pickett would be the wrong choice because of his age is ridiculous. Essendon’s best small forward of recent times is McDonald-Tipungwuti, he was drafted as a 22 year old defender. Tom Stewart was 23 when drafted, and is probably the best out of the 2016 draft. Just draft the best player. The more important question would be who they believe has a higher ceiling long-term and I think most would suggest that would be Dovaston.
Their ability to perform straight away would only be a significant factor if we were going to be competing for a premiership next year.
Farrow makes me think Fyfe. The way he just absorbs footy and wants to learn and get betterfarrow gives me weddle vibes from what the clips i've seen. skills and athletic profile to play anywhere.
That's the proper BigFooty spirit. Unfounded opinions.I'm not very savvy on drafts and stuff but after watching just 1 minute of Dyson Sharps highlights I'm going to have a meltdown if we don't land him.
I think it would be astute. Also takes the pressure of the Pick 1 label off Duursma. If we missed on Robey, I would consider it.
If we got a small forward in Dovaston or Pickett, would let El-Achkar go and get back in for Greeves.
Love it make Suns pay.
they should then go Annable at 3 though.
Before getting Duursma at 4
then bid on Dean at 5.
Uwland (suns)
Patterson (suns)
Annable (bris)
Duursma (eagles)
Dean (blues)
CDT (eagles)
Cumming(Rich)
X Taylor (rich)
Robey (efc)
Sharp (efc)
Nairn (Dees)
Dovaston/Pickett/Farrow/Grilj (Dees)
Dovaston/Pickett (efc)
If Eagles want to pickup Addison (Suns) later it will mean they will be unable to match.
4 of top 5 being bids would be crazy.
Nerd. But also, many thanks.Summary of Twomey's phantom debrief
- Easily the toughest draft Twomey's done. Partly because of the bid's, partly because of the two by two nature of the top 8 and also the fact it's a very even draft pool.
- Duursma & CDT expect to be the Eagles two picks. Carlton's made their trades for the reason and the reason is the Eagles will bid on Dean at pick 3.
- Richmond likely to bid before picking. Twomey reasonably confident on top 6 of his phantom draft.
- Only club that can shake the top 6 is Essendon. Still think's they're a chance to try package up something and get to Richmond or Eagles picks. Doesn't think the Eagles are interested in trading though.
- Richmond been determined to give no clues to any clubs around them as to what they're picking.
- Sam Cumming, Robey & Taylor are leading contenders at Richmond's pick.
- Jacob Farrow might be in contention too with Richmond. Some clubs think he's a sneaky chance to be picked by Richmond but Twomey didn't have the guts to put him in there as one of the picks.
- Can mount arguments for Sully Robey or Xavier Taylor at Richmond. Thinks Robey just because might fit the midfield group taken in last years draft.
- If Sully Robey gets to Essendon's pick they will take him.
- Jacob Farrow in the mix for Essendon's pick.
- The Melbourne picks he thinks Nairn will be one of them, doesn't see anyone picking them before him.
- Potentially too many similarities between Farrow & Nairn for the Dee's to take both.
- Essendon & Carlton deal will happen for the current pick 9.
- Essendon between Dovaston, Latrelle Pickett, Oskar Taylor, Grlj and Schubert for that pick. Potentially might try sneak Dyson Sharp to that pick.
- North will get pick 11 which will be pick 15. Latrelle Pickett, Dovaston and Grlj in the conversation at that pick. A chance they go tall and take Schubert or Thredgold.
- Harry Kyle to be bid on by the Giants & the Swans will match.
- West Coast a chance to double barrel bid on GCS academy guys Jai Murray and Beau Addinsall. If they want Beau more than Jai they bid on Jai first so there's a chance GCS don't have the points to match.
- Josh Lindsay also in the Eagles mix around 19.
- Adelaide between Mitch Marsh & Archie Ludowyke. Twomey went for the local factor.
- Fremantle will consider bidding on Tylah Williams & Adam Sweid. A chance if Schubert is on the board Freo won't bid and will just take Schubert in case one of the clubs don't match.
- Essendon will be very tight to match on 25 for Sweid. Depends on what pts they get back from Sweid.
- Hawthorn interested in Liam Hetherton & Harley Barker.
- Top 6 he's confident in unless there's a trade, if there is then it's pick your own adventure.
- Archie Ludowyke Twomey couldn't fit into the 30 but Geelong & Adelaide are interested.
- Phillipou has been looked at by WCE & the Giants.
- Geelong have interest in Greeves at 23, that's probably his starting point.
- Max King & Zac McCarthy likely to be bid on in the 30's.
- Twomey's Late mail coming tonight.
Wait until you hear clubs pick players with late birthdays in the year, because they think that’s an additional year of growth. McDonald-Tipungwuti Is the exception to the rule and an outlier, and only he had a good few years as a small forward, not a whole career.
Pickett is interesting because his instinct is exciting to watch. Dov has runs on the board. There will probably be arguments about which of these two was the better selection for many seasons to comeMaybe because one is 20 years old and the other one is 18. Dovaston Kicking 50 goals is something you shouldn’t be neglecting, I know which one I’d prefer.
whats the point situation if they face bids at 1 and 2?I think it would be astute. Also takes the pressure of the Pick 1 label off Duursma.

Robey Farrow GrljNo, they don’t. They may mention a player is young for their year after the draft, but it’s not why they get drafted. You’re suggesting they’d purposely pick someone who is worse, just because they’re young… it’s because of their ability. We’re talking about small forwards as well, not like they’re 200cm project players.Wait until you hear clubs pick players with late birthdays in the year, because they think that’s an additional year of growth.
I also get the sense this draft isn’t as dreadful as advertised. A few players seem to have come on late in the season which has added to the quality. Apparently the Carlton recruiting team rate this years crop too.
Why, because he’s younger? I don’t know who has a ‘higher ceiling’ between them, but the insinuation that drafting Pickett would be the wrong choice because of his age is ridiculous. “You’re suggesting they’d purposely pick someone who is worse, just because they’re young” where was this stated in my message????No, they don’t. You’re suggesting they’d purposely pick someone who is worse, just because they’re young… it’s because of their ability. Saying Stewart got drafted late because of talent recognition, isn’t that the same for all these mature aged picks? They got drafted late because they weren’t recognised earlier. Tippa had personal reasons for why his career stopped. Without Covid, and the club’s mismanagement of him, he would still likely be playing.
Dovaston may be better than Pickett, but my point is that they shouldn’t just draft him because he’s younger.
