The more I read, the more I like:

“I want to bring excitement,” Sweid said.

“I want to kick goals at Optus Stadium and get the fans up and about and be a little rat to the opposition, getting under their skin making sure we get the home advantage.”
****en love him already

Been a while since we had a certain cheeky highly skilled small forward getting under everyone's skin.

I am wholeheartedly on board with front loading the forward line with intelligent ball users who love a goal.
Ive gone over to the Rookie Me Central Facebook page. Sweld was elite at pressure stats at underage level which is why he'll probably start as a pressure forward if he plays at afl level early on. Walls rated him way higher than other teams is what's been said too which is also a very positive sign. He has that super quick burst speed over very short distances (eg 0-10metres) which our afl team needs more of. He could play early on as a pressure forward depending on how Dudley is going.

Interesting with Sweld a mid' forward I think we could go with a small forward with out second pick.
We have been linked to Taylor Byrne a fair bit in draft mocks using a late pick. Id be very happy if we drafted him with our second pick tonight.
He has great skills and is veyr quick plus he has some natural forward craft eg his 5 goal game at National champs

Confirmation from a Twomey article that his 20m sprint time is not rounded: "...three seconds flat"
I'd argue 3 seconds flat is just about perfect.

Based on AFL research:

"The mean range of elite AFL players' 20-m sprint times was 2.94-3.13. However, one group was deemed an outlier within this level, and after removal, the mean range for Elite AFL players was 2.94-3.01s"

When I deep dove on that stat, I went through the last 15 years of top ten players in the 20 m AFL combine sprint..I actually found if you were significantly faster than the mean (2.94) there was in fact a correlation with a lack of success in the AFL, just as much as being slower than the mean's 3.01s.

I would suggest this could indicate the body type and training focus required to really excel in this sprint area (as opposed to being quick enough onfield, whilst also focusing on developing highly specialised AFL skills, as well as strength and endurance) is detrimental to future onfield success as an AFL footballer.

I present to you, the esteemed 15 year alumni of 20m AFL combine sprint winners..

Gabriel Stumpf
Aiden O'driscoll
Ed Allen
Harvey Harrison
Reef Mciness
Sam Philip
Tom Mckenzie
Jack Petrucelle
Jacob Allison
Alex Morgan and Kurt Mutimer
Marvin Baynham
Jonathon Marsh
Adam Saad
Shannon Taylor
Joel Willkinson

Not exactly a who's who of AFL history. In fact, Id suggest mostly non-indicative of success. Our very own Joel Western's state combine 2.73 apparently would have broken the combine record. We all know how Joel turned out.

2.94-3.01s is the 20m combine sprint mean for successful AFL players, people. And our boy sits right smack bang inside it.

Saved for the when Sweid only wins 2 Brownlows instead of 3.

See, best discussion is on Bigfooty...

Thanks for the in depth research

(apologies for the intrusion)

Ive followed Adam's journey and seen almost all his games this year. Adam did come back from an early 2024 ACL, he managed to play 8 games at the back end of 2024 so not a complete surprise to those who have followed him.

Adam has gone from strength to strength, risen to each level he has played in, including and not limited to Coates Talent League, U18 championships, VFL. He just gets the job done.

Although not quick, he is quick by mind and that helps make better decisions in close, he has elite hands and whilst kicking is effective, he wont ever be a distributor.

His ability to read the game allows him to effectively contribute as a forward option, he routinely kicked goals. As a small marking forward, he gets on his bike. Dont be surprised if the little pit bull gets a game early as he is what every coach would love. A team first player who gives his all for the benefit of his team.

I'll be an unofficial Docker watching him closely as I am bitterly disappointed we didnt match but can certainly understand why we didnt match. Although trying harder to get points, denying the 2026 deficit should have been the play, im stoked he has gone to Freo. Good to be alongside other similar players (Caleb Serong, Brayshaw etc)

Do you think he has the traits to make it as a forward at AFL level?

Odd that someone would come here from the reigning premiers board to flaunt their charity pick up on the Adam Sweid thread?
Especially when their club probably wouldn't even exist without handouts

Justin Longmuir waiting to coach that out of him:

Really hope we pick him tonight. He's still on the board 6 picks to our pick.

Man, I was so ready to love him then he just threw it all away with "and sugar".

Trade him to Essendon immediately

C'mon Snuff, don't exaggerate, he said "with a sugar", singular, one!

I'd argue with the sweet, cardamom spiced coffee and syrupy baklawa probably kicking about the family gatherings, that order is basically keto!
