Barlow talks really well. Not a lot of BS* either. Fascinating watching him really listening to what Colby is saying. Checking whether he needs to step in, help, nudge him or just to get a view of just how much Colby is internalising the messages he is getting.

*You can read that as you like ;)

Speaks well does Micky

I'm going to go all out here and do a "Bob Hawke", Anybody that doesn't like Colby is a bum!
This young man is only going to get better & better, you've only seen glimpses of what he can do and his assessment while a few on here will laugh is very much correct, contrary to some on here, we are not that far off.

I know comparisons are odious, but in my eyes we have 4 young guns that could be top 3 players in the comp later in their career.

Sheez
FOS
Wardlaw
Kerch

That’s the order I have them in come the ends of their careers.

How would you rank them?

……..but FOS?
I don't see FOS ever being a superstar. He doesn't, and likely won't, win outrageous amounts of ball and unless he magically turns into one of the great utilitarian goalkickers I don't see him ever getting the fanfare. I can very easily see him being in our top three most important players over a period longer than a decade, and that's the sort of profile that's valued internally far more than it is in the outside world

I dont see any reason he can’t be a Luke hodge type that averaged 22 disposals over his career.

Sheez - could be our best ever, breaking records every year since he debuted.
Colby - kid is special, ball magnet, multiple AA’s.
FOS - think he’ll be lower possession, but very big impact type.
Warlord - injuries concern me, otherwise could be anything.

Hi big, now that is probably one of the toughest questions you could ask! All four players are different, they play different, their approach is different but the common denominator is for all there to see, unbelievable top shelf potential. Harry, well he's now 21, three years in and he is a special player, in his first three years he has won our Best & Fairest twice, had a 50 possession game, play virtually anywhere, an absolute professional in everything he does, brings other players into the game and like a SOULMATE, he's ours for life.

"The little shark"🦈, as I like to call him, Finn O'Sullivan, talent oozing out his skin, can play forward, can play back, can play midfield and has so much potential and class its not funny, like Harry the word "versatility" comes straight to mind and Alastair is quietly building this team up with all the fundamentals needed for what we are striving to accomplish. Another who is very smart, his awareness is already at the next level and while we have seen what he can do down back and the odd appearance in the centre square, his forward craft is very very good. I remember in his his underage year in a champs game playing half forward and the first half of the game he absolutely dominated before he tired out, nobody could get near him and I thought to myself we could certainly do with a player of his class, funny how things work out!

"The warlord", you know you can sum him up many different ways & have quite a different view on George but what you can't argue is simply one thing, he is a "beast"! He in general terms is a "Hunter', he will not slow down, he will not give up and most important of all, he doesn't care if your the Bont, Nick Daicos or Judas, the end result will be the same, "frustration"!

Oh, and of course as a few post about whether he can stay on the park, while that is a valid reasoning to ask, one must remember he is only 21, lots of youngsters in their first three years get injuries, some more than others but also some, I wont use the word panic, but are worried that he might not get a full year on the field, to strengthen your hamstrings you need to understand your body, get fitter, workload and many other exercises & different things that come with this injury, coaches are all over this, and medical opinions would have been sounded out, sometimes people worry too much about two or three injuries to the same part of the body or even different injuries, and will have serious doubts as to whether he is ever going to be a full year player, sometimes we just need to relax a little bit before we think everything is going to be "doom & gloom".

Colby, 20 years old, above averages in four of the six stats listed, the two stats are marks & tackles, tackles was addressed late last year and Colby took it onboard like the professional he is, applied it and was very good, he needs to strengthen his body up a bit more but that is natural progression. Last year apart from a couple of errors, he was brilliant, does he have things to work on?

That's the beauty of the team we are assembling, he is going to get a lot better and the "tag LDU and we win" mantra is going to get blown off the shelf because with the natural improvement of our youngsters the question will soon arise, "who the bloody hell do we tag? He is a 'gun", I watched Nick Daicos in his first couple of years and while he was brilliant there were times that he made mistakes, he's only a youngster and no matter how good you are your going to make them, the only difference is with players like this it gets magnified x10.

So after all that, my conclusion to your question may well be totally wrong in several years time, but I can live with that, in all sports/ horse racing we love to compare and rate, whether they are in the same timeline or many years apart, its a bit of fun & it passes the time away, my rating of the four & remembering that very very little separates them at the end of the day.

Hmmm interesting

I live Colby, but just think his turnovers will hold him back from being the best of the lot.

But if he does become that, we are laughing all the way to multiple flags

Yeah it will be interesting that's for sure, I wouldn't worry too much about the turnovers, it happens, he'll rectify that next year, its all part of learning & adjusting to senior level, the last two years have been about learning, the game plan and putting yourselves in position to win, in reality wins or losses didn't really matter { I know supporters hate this but with so many young kids there has to be a bit of leeway, next year everything changes, there are no more excuses and wins are what we are after, to be the best, you have to beat the best and after the last two years where we have had a lot of close losses and a draw, our mindset is getting a complete makeover, to win no matter what!☠️
