If the broadcast deal gets wound back, if Tassie doesn’t get up, and if AFL House continues to be dysfunctional, you’d have to think Andrew Dillon really is at risk of losing his job.

Oh great, another $2 million the league will spend on a thorough worldwide CEO search before hiring the person in the office next to Andrew Dillon. For the third time in the last 10 years.

To be fair, Tassie is entirely outside his control.

But the rest of his reign has been mediocre at best, and ranging from that to completely incompetent.

Reading that. I got the impression Caroline was not happy with Laura not responding to her questions, and really stuck the boot in.
Before this, I thought Caroline has been pretty supportive of Laura.

If the broadcast deal gets wound back, good luck to TDK getting the last few million dollars from his 7 year deal, he might end up with the traditional Shit Kilda 7 cents in the dollar settlement.

🤣

Someone wrote the other day the incentives the AFL could have provided to the Tassie government for a side are considerable and may have been effective in changing the narrative down there. Some of the ideas suggested included offering them Gather Round, the draft, State of Origin Football, Opening Round, etc.

I agree he doesn’t have control. But he could have done way more to influence things. Especially given he was responsible for much of the early negotiations.

The Devil's introduction is overdue, but the stadium demands from the AFL has multiple issues.
If Tassie wasn't such an Aussie Rules obsessed population it would never be considered.

The tension for all stakeholders must be escalating now.

It will be interesting to see the turnout to the pro stadium rally today. The anti stadium turnout last week was modest, and the social media posts suggested the average age would have been north of 60.

If the proponents can get a sizeable turnout today, and importantly reflect enthusiastic support among young people, then I think it will do much to calm the nerves of waverers in the upper house who will vote this week.

As a born and bred Tasmanian who has lived on the mainland for two decades due to lack of opportunity in my home state, I will be shedding a tear if the vested interests for maintaining the status quo win yet again by knocking back the stadium.

Those sorts of things will come, but I don’t think it’s something you offer before the team is even confirmed.

I think that depends on whether you want to get some MHAs to vote in favour of your proposal.

That said, I do feel like everyone involved in the matter at the AFL and in the Tasmanian government seems to be acting as though they are confident the vote will get up.
