Not just quick but a swinging ball.I remember it well. Charging a guy bowling at 160 km/hr and getting castled on the 3rd attempt.

Right up until the day they sack him!does he have "the full support of the board"?
100%people's issue with bazball is probably more the grandstanding. if they did the same but without the high horse stuff less people would care and more people could acknowledge that a team is laying down their contribution to the fabric of cricket. good deeds done silently, etc
I don’t disagree that it works in those circumstances, but I think it also works with the cattle they have available/ are willing to select. It works when it spooks the opposition into ridiculously defensive fields and you can then get 5 an over in singles. That's what happened for much of our last trip over there.
They’ve hand picked this side to meet what they want…yes it’s their best style because that’s why they picked them.I don’t disagree that it works in those circumstances, but I think it also works with the cattle they have available/ are willing to select.
Now, you could make an argument that they have ignored players that don’t suit their playing style, but from what they select this still is their best style IMO
You might end up being correct. They’ve hand picked this side to meet what they want…yes it’s their best style because that’s why they picked them.
Don’t think it’s going to work on our bigger grounds.
When this turns to shit, and it’s well on the way, who’s left?
Duckett
Crawley
Pope
Root?
Brook
Stokes?
Smith
Their inability to do anything other than go at it at frenetic pace has cost them and continues to cost them. Good players play at about 85%, these blokes have no gears.
Cricket is a game that you never stop learning. These blokes have been coached to stop learning. This has been their best chance to beat us in years, we’ve an ageing team, with questionable depth.
Through ignorance, arrogance and bravado they’ve completely ****ed it up.
I’d expect McCulium and Key to be shown the door and Stokes to pull the pin and sulk for years.
Good points but geez this Aussie side has been lauded by many as the weakest Ashes side in quite some time. And with Cummins and Hazlewood out in that first test; I mean are their batters going to get a better opportunity than that? You might end up being correct.
But we're only 1 test into the series and let's face it, the Poms had us on ice at one stage and didn't close the deal.
If they lose badly I dare say you’ll be correct. Attacking on difficult pitches can be a good tactic, but you need to have a method to your madness - that’s the current issue facing England. They’ve hand picked this side to meet what they want…yes it’s their best style because that’s why they picked them.

I do agree sort of that they’ve been coached not to learn, but I think the biggest issue is players that have been overlooked for not fitting their style.

Yeah, but is there anyone in the ECB who has the plums and the numbers to say “ We’ve been sold a pup here “ . I would reckon they’re unlikely to do it after an away series loss, even if it is the Ashes, but if they get touched up at home by the Kiwis then questions might be asked. They should beat Pakistan you’d think. Those overlooked will get a chance when this turns to shit
After this series...McCullum is an idiot.
England should sack him.
As someone earlier pointed out its more the accompanying BS about being saviours of the game when their record isn't that specialBy making them at the very least a better team than they were?
How does any of that make sense.
Thats it. Gilly never came out and declared he was going AdamBall every innings like a flogpeople's issue with bazball is probably more the grandstanding. if they did the same but without the high horse stuff less people would care and more people could acknowledge that a team is laying down their contribution to the fabric of cricket. good deeds done silently, etc
