WC's drafting is so similar with Vossy's 2009 lions it’s uncanny!

WC in trades one mature main list pick who just played in a premiership and 3 mature aged players onto a rookie list that has 4 additional spots that were concessionally gifted to WC by the AFL.

Then add 4 main list new draftees, 3 from the 1st round.

Vossy traded in……. Oh wait, one just ain't like the other:

Top 20 rated Eagles & Tigers 1-4 year players(turning 19-22yo this year) who played at least 5 games in 2025, listed by average player rating below.

Also, both teams have 11 of their top 20 rated players in 2025 aged 26 or younger. Interesting, West Coast top 3 rated players to play 10 or more games in 2025, were Baker, Graham & McCarthy. All from Richmond.

Dean Robinson was in charge of the fitness program and he managed to get results at previous clubs in both AFL and NRL. Obviously didn't work out at Essendon but I wouldn't be blaming Hird for it.

Hird got paid $1 million over the 12 months he was banned and he spent that time holidaying in France. I do agree with his views about West Coast being in a bad spot but he could be wrong I mean Robert Walls tipped West Coast to win the wooden spoon in 2018 and look how that turned out.

And I would bet he would happily give back that $1m if he could rewind the clock and make better decisions and avoid the whole catastrophy.

I dont rate his opinion as being balanced.

I imagine Cripps, Owies, Kelly, Cole and Flynn will all be spending time in the WAFL side next year. Maybe even Graham, if Roberston can take his spot in the midfield.
