Other than the fact that you don't like the Eagles, what could you possibly be basing that on?...
I've heard him speak at various sponsor functions and don't find him remotely impressive or inspiring.
Can't speak for Hird, but I'm setting the Pyke bar low for sure.

It’s the legal limitation bit that Hird struggles with.

With Harley Reid Resigned, West Coast need to get Elliot YEO fit. get him attracting the tagger and let Reid shine.

I also would like to see Ginbey moved back into the midfield. Baker was a good get, Eagles need more durable experienced players to help out. Warner, probably if they can get him for Pick 1 is probably worth it, throw in his brother too as steak knives.

2026 starting midfield
Warner, YEO, REID
then Ginbey, Hewett, Baker
Tim Kelly will be still serviceable for 2026 and 2027

in what world would a 750k expense fix our list anyway?
You've got 70m in the bank. You could spend more than 1m a year on soft cap development coaching and still cover the tax without even breaking a sweat or dipping into your profits. Eventually the AFL would probably look to clamp down on the spending but only once you got good so hurry up and improve.

Go head hunt some people.

WAFC controls the purse strings?

I'm sure many in the club would like to be spending more but the way the club is set up is that we can't just go spend.

Has it been definitively ruled out by the WAFC?
You could easily make a case that getting West Coast competitive again is the smartest investment you could make in WA footy.

So...you've seen Oscar Allen play the last 2 seasons (well...briefly anyway) and believe right now is a good time for the Eagles to give him the long term big money deal he thinks he deserves?

...and Ryan - nearing 30 and wants another 3 years, despite barely firing a shot since 2020?

Are these good deals for a rebuilding club?

Those 2 specifically.

Please do advise.
I find it funny you said Liam Ryan has barely fired a shot since 2020.

I mean his 2021 season he kicked 24 goals from 14 games which isn't bad.

But you specifically mentioned those 2 blokes.

Oscar Allen turns 27 March of next season. I guess the eagles are not confident on turning the club around quick enough. In a different scenario, eagles would offer him a 4 year deal until 2029. He would be 30 years old by then and eagles would make finals or at worst contending for a finals spot.

Allen being 30 or 31 years old and he plays 2 or 3 years of finals before his playing career ends.

Liam Ryan on the other hand. Well.... Yeah you could take the risk of keeping him for one more season. Or get a 2nd rounder around pick 30 to 40 then get a replacement for him in the national draft.

If Liam Ryan is your teams best small forward, then I guess the eagles fans don't have a lot of confidence on their other small forwards

Unprecedented injury crisis. Multiple concussion retirements. Soft cap spending reductions. Over paid for Kelly. Which lined up with the classic "if every one is healthy next season we can compete for a flag" (which was true) idea - and happened to all occur during unprecedented covid situation.

A bunch of poor decisions, plus a bunch of really bad luck. Perfect storm.
What do you mean unprecedented injury crisis?

Are you telling me the 2025 eagles are the 1st team to have injuries as bad as this?

Your club is remarkably not the 1st WA club to have a similar injury list. Try the 2016 dockers side.
