Autopsy Off season crap thread: three things you got right at some point to do with the Demons (or footy more broadly)

I’ve probably got three in total, ever. Maybe some more I haven’t thought of yet.

1. Jake Melksham might be really useful if we played him forward.

2. Scully wasn’t up to the level of hype and his leaving wasn’t a big deal (though everything else at the time proved to be shit - just not that bit in particular).

3. Max Gawn would turn into the best ruck in the competition (proud of this one - said it straight after his breakout game against Geelong. I probably wasn’t alone in getting overly hyped - but partner PG told me to settle down and that Gawn would never be as good around the ground as Goldie. Sucked in partner PG).

If I made a list of things I got wrong I would be writing this post for several years though.

Let's just stick to the major decisions in the last 5 years that I saw coming quicker than the people paid millions to run a club. I wasn't alone on this stuff

Very early 2023 was happy to say our
window was closed and we were wasting our time. Recruitment was terrible, young players weren't improving and the players who reached AA had dropped off.
Took 2 years from that point for the club to catch up

Should have ****ed off Oliver as soon as it went south. Could see this a mile away again, blokes style of play was less effective in the way the games moving and he lost his work ethic and desire. Instead we clapped him off at the G after a ****ing standard game. Cringe.

I'll claim the Pickett call aswell, watched him in one under 18 Carnival game and knew he had all the attributes to be a star.

I don’t suppose you noticed whether any of our picks this year are going to be stars?

I said H Bennell wouldn't work out, and it didn't

I remember talking a lot of people down around round 1 2015 saying we'd beat the suns, but everything was so negative after that Viney kick across goal against the first round of top ups. I also was optimistic heading into the 2022 AFLW Grand Final, even after a bad start I thought we could still win the game

After old mate told me it was the 'stupidest crap he'd ever read' I was mostly right about our start to the season having inflated crowd numbers from the match ups and being early season. The real damage and downturn was done to our membership

I always thought @TempyTiger overinflated Jake Spencer's worth.

And @Wonna33 overdid the Jack Watts praise for leading the league in intercept marks round 9-13 2012.
