I mean, Stokes takes a bit of time to get going most of the time and Jacks has been out there all of 22 balls.

I dunno. Root's faced almost 30 overs himself for 88; 5 an over from that would see him on 150, and them on over 300 which is much more their style.

I legit do not think they can play the 'mature version' for longer than potentially a test in a row.
I think the maturation of this style is more positional: It's a long drive golfer playing tight courses with a 2 iron and a developed short game but still willing to bomb and chip the holes on that course that they're able to. The style creates opportunities that aren't available to everyone else: The maturity is "developing the short game" to consolidate.

That's my take, it's definitely possible but it takes lateral thought and the ability to balance arrogance and humility appropriately (as F. Scott Fitzgerald once said: the test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in the mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function).

Riddle me this.

You've got a pink ball. You're under lights. It's moving in the air a little and off the deck a little. You've been going at 2 an over, and they've struggled to deal with it. Root has almost given the game away in the previous over outside off to Cam Green.

Why in utter **** are you bowling leg theory?

An underdone Cummins would be offering far more than Doggett now. Jesus.

Or we could have picked the spinner who has 500 test wickets just an idea
