Greaves is a player we need to invest in because he has the mechanics of a good player. Watch Chase bat and you wonder how he ever hit 5 test hundreds.
I watch Greaves bat and I can actually picture him scoring a lot of runs. He has a good front elbow, he - usually - moves his feet well and gets into good positions and gets his head into good positions relative to the ball. He has a very strong domestic one day record but his red ball career has been diluted a bit up to now because he’s been a bits and pieces cricketer. By all means he’s a handy bowler but invest in him as a batsman. Hes far better than chase. Play him at five, bring Hodge or someone in at 6 (who can roll the arm over and fill Chase’s overs anyway)

Please. Please let this be it.
2 tons and a 50 from Hope in 3 innings. Friendly conditions for the two tons, but both in absolutely dire positions in each game, and the 50 was in extremely tough conditions.

Let this be when it finally clicks for him as a test batsman.

Greaves is playing a really nice knock too, just quietly. Timing the ball beautifully

I've never rated Shai Hope as a test player but his ODI record is up there with the best West Indians ever so he obviously has some ability

It’s not for lack of talent that he hasn’t made runs; you could throw him in with players like Ramps and Hick that were quite obviously talented enough for test cricket but for whatever reason it didn’t happen for them.

The Windies look to have found a player with Greaves, it's one positive for them to take out of this match even if they lose today.

The last couple of matches - India and here - DO go to show at least that when we bat in comfortable conditions we have some players capable of making runs: Hope (twice), Campbell, Greaves all making hundreds, Greaves made a half-century in India as well, plus Hope and Chanderpaul making tough 50s in the first innings here.

During our last 12-18 months where we’ve been an abortion of a batting unit, we’ve also played virtually no cricket on what you would call easy batting surfaces up until that last test against India.

This is starting to get concerning again with this partnership between Greaves and Roach.

We have had our chances to break it with a dropped catch and a missed run out, hopefully they don't end up costing us a win.

I'm not sure how Athanaze keeps his place.

I don't think I've ever seen him play a test innings of any substance, surely there is someone better than him to bat at no.3.
