Not watching all that closely but looks a pretty lazy chasing effort from NZ

We have made this run chase a lot more difficult than it should have been but England got lucky with those couple of run outs.

Overall a very exciting game of cricket. Thank you New Zealand and England for lighting up my Saturday afternoon.

This is why I prefer 50 over cricket to the 20 over format.

Look at the ebbs and flows in this game. They are far less common in the 20 over version.
Yeah I can definitely appreciate 50 over cricket alot more now, I think the current Womens 50 over World Cup, and the mens 2023 World Cup were pretty good endorsements for the game.

People will always remember a big 50 over game over a big T20 game.

PhatBoy's world's shittest cricketer having quite the series.

He can actually bat, and I think - I am happy to be corrected to some degree - he is ‘useful’ as a number 7 type (his career numbers domestically don’t suggest that he’s good enough to be more than that but who knows) but his bowling is simply not very good. He did have a good day today admittedly though even Curran did as well and he’s been as useful as a screen door on a submarine lately so every dog does indeed have his day.

I guess my main gripe with these sort of players for England is that they get brought into their set up - Reece Topley is another one for example in their T20 side who gets ‘marketed’ as something, in his case a specialist at bowling good early on and then tight death overs and not costing many - the guy averages mid 20s and goes for 8.5 an over both in franchise and T20I cricket. His figures closely match Jason Holder who has for much of his career been MALIGNED for his T20 output. They talk them up as having this specific skillset that they actually very rarely deliver on.

I guess it’s not so much the player I have a problem with as, in isolation, they are probably making a reasonable contribution to their side. It’s how their contribution is spun I suppose I have a problem with as being something bigger than what it actually is
