This reminds me a bit of the extraordinary story of Bill Walton, who played for Collingwood 1918-19!: https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/players/bill-waltonNot sure that’d be an option for him in 2026. Signed with Port so he either plays there or stands out of VFL all together I’d assume.

Per Tom Morris:
A collingwoodfc staff member has resigned following an incident on a community camp in the Northern Territory, which prompted an internal investigation.
The male football department staffer was intoxicated and acted inappropriately on the final night of the trip in Alice Springs.
The camp was attended by all first year Collingwood players in the male and female program, plus several staff and some board members who joined for small parts of the trip.
It’s understood Collingwood’s footy boss Charlie Gardiner addressed the employee’s misconduct and departure in broad terms to the AFL program on Tuesday morning.
He made it clear what took place was not acceptable.
Welfare and support have been provided to anyone involved in the incident.
In a statement provided to me, a Magpies spokesperson said: “Collingwood can confirm that an incident occurred during recent interstate travel that required an investigation by the club.
“As soon as the club became aware of the incident, it moved quickly to address the matter and during this process, the employee involved tendered their resignation, which the club accepted.
“Our focus remains on supporting all team members and ensuring our environments remain professional and consistent with the values we stand for.”
The club’s AFLW and AFL Instagram account collaborated on three posts across the week-long camp, which highlighted the benefits of the “cultural immersion program.”
“Part of our induction for new players, the cultural immersion program focuses on fostering meaningful connection, deepening understanding and working Side by Side with the local community,” one post read.
Any idea what department the staff member was from?Cue in the Club Statement
Unable to say, sorry. I’m sure it’ll come out soon!Any idea what department the staff member was from?
Which Football Department staffer got himself sacked at end of the recent Community Camp?
Agree. Particularly considering the trip is designed to teach the youth and new recruits on the list about the indigenous culture and the side by side mantra. All in all this is a very disappointing story. They shouldn't be drinking at all on a trip like this. Really poor standards to allow that to even happen.
It was a football department staff member, so hopefully the above isn't the case....There were multiple male staffers there, but the only one who would have any meaning to any of us is Tyson Goldsack.
I would have thought if it were him he would have been named, given his hiring had been announced. (99% of the hirings at the club are not announced)
I completely understand the outcome.
So plays an important role. Well you want to be the fool, you pay the price....He's the rehab co-ordinator.
I resemble that remarkWait, what?? Since when has knowing SFA disqualified us from having an opinion?![]()
