They will appeal the sentence stating mental health, like they've already done to get/uphold the suppression.
"He was on bail for 2 years and was an exemplary member of the community" blahdy blah.
The mental health aspect re the suppression was based upon him not being able to adequately be capable to assist his defence. It wasn’t an attempt to alleviate sentence or as an excuse, he denied that straight up. You need to understand the difference between the matter itself and the continued suppression battle.
