The outliers are probably fine.

It's when you get an organisation filled with them that creates the issues.
This. I have met plenty from the school I’m mentioning who were absolutely good men but those ones have mentioned and noticed the culture those places create.

Alternately most public schools (and honestly co-ed schools) would barely have a culture to speak of.

Yep, school I went to had so little culture, yoghurt wasn't allowed on the canteen menu

Hearing from someone in legal circles that SOS offered over a $1mill to the girl to walk away
Why would anyone do that if they thought he's innocent? If true, this is terrible and good on the victim in not taking the money, but allowing the correct legal process to play out.

It’s a pretty common ploy from the rich and powerful regardless.

Would the damage to the family and reputations exceed $1m either way (not guilty or guilty) probably would so it may just be a sound business choice.

Clearly it was more than that in this case but it doesn’t always mean guilt.

At the risk of baiting the alumni, there's a reason St Kevin's has the reputation it has
not really...its lop sided.....half a dozen aloof schoolboys acting like pigs and disrespecting women by crude songs on a tram makes front page news....5 or 6 bogans from Cranbourne tech doing burnouts and screaming out insults to young women, doesn't get a mention.

What was that lyric from TISM?
I cannot read, I have no knowledge.
But at least I didn't go to Xavier College.

Bunch of turds.
Love TISM! How about a few favourite verses to our favourite songs to lighten the mood considering this horrible topic? “The Rich kid becomes a junkie, the Poor kid an advertiser. What a senseless waste of potential. ( being a junkie’s not so good either ) 😁

I quote this line all the time lmao, one of my favourites.

His legal fees would be up there especially with an appeal

I already said I know they were inadmissible. The opinions on how accurate they are vary greatly. A lot of countermeasures can be detected. I feel like the odds of the guilty appearing honest, and the victim appearing dishonest is fairly low.

If I was a victim of anything, or accused of something, I'd take one just to quell public opinion.

Or get them to do a tarot card reading, it would do nothing to quell public opinion because nothing ever does.

Most of us aren't talking about people of school age.

It's them as adults out in the real world.

Any doubt about the identity of the previous “teenager” case was dispelled this morning.
I spoke with someone who works in the prison system who confirmed 100% it was TS.
Leopards and spots.

Forest for the trees.

I’ve seen some pretty normal seemingly well adjusted young men go to these schools on scholarships and their attitudes and behaviours change double time.

In many cases it’s a distilled version of superiority that’s actively pushed on them.

That’s why people discuss the culture of the places, because it might not impact everyone the same way but ultimately it’s a thing.

How would someone in the “prison” system have any access to this info.

I was my parents puppet till my teenage years
Till I rebelled and swapped them for my peers

chances are if you're a bully or arrogant as a kid you will be a bully and arrogant as an adult, no matter what school you went to

Sure. But you might not have a school-based "club" that perpetuates the elitism post finishing high school to congregate with and often join organisations with fellow members because you all went to xyz school. Or get jobs much easier than other people just because you attended a high school.

It took me until my 30's to see this was actually a thing here in Melbourne.

The kids sitting on the extremities of any social side won’t be influenced by this sort of thing but the majority aren’t on the extremities and if you’re in those places from prep then it’s beaten in through all your formative years and if you go there later you quickly realize that it’s an easy way to popularity (which is so important to a teenager).

Again, as you say, it’s engrained in the fabric of the place, it’s hard to resist it forever

If the family is moving/has moved to Queensland, does that mean SOS has left his job at St Kilda?
wondering the same thing

Talk is they've moved to Qld, does anyone know if it's true and is SOS still working at the Saints?

It's not just guys either, I've felt judged by women in Melbourne who went to private school here who have asked me where I went, as a mid-30 something professional. When I used to answer "Loreto" their eyes lit up until I said no, not the Melbourne one :p

I always found it truly bizarre.
