Warner was fast tracked though. He'd barely played domestic cricket, scored a hundred in the t20 on debut, and they threw him into the Aussie side
Warner scored an 80 on T20 debut.

Warner scored an 80 on T20 debut.
I remember texting a mate saying that we were a dodgy hammy from Warner being a Test player and wondering incredulously at it all. Eight k runs later it's up there with me coming home from Sydney in 92 saying the new blonde leggy wasn't much chop as terrible calls.

All the Bazball stuff aside, too much of the English approach has been reminiscent of the bad old 90s days.

Picking Smith and Jacks for their batting ability instead of a 'proper' keeper and spinner reminds me of those 90s English teams that would be filled with bits-and-pieces no-rounders to try to prop up both batting and bowling.

He wasn't much chop. Should have taken a thousand wickets, with the number of personal bunnies he had.

My line up fo Boxing Day would be
Head
Renshaw
Smith
Labuschagne
Green
Webster
Carey
Neser
Starc
Kunermann/ Roccichioli/Murphy
Boland.
Incredibly stiff to drop an opener after three games where he has had a not out and a 70 in it.

Not certain he is the answer long term but hasn’t been awful

Credit where credit is due, what a workhorse Starc is.
Was our sole seam bowler in Sri Lanka.
It’s been a massive shame to lose Hazlewood and Cummins but I’m glad we have had a chance to see Starc get the spotlight on him.

He is the most over criticised Aussie cricketer I can remember from fans. He may not be perfect but he is bloody good and the second he struggles the knives have come out for him.

An all time great bowler

Is there a specific reason they went away from Leach? His record is reasonably solid.

Does he just not bazball enough??

He’s played a bit under this management (not fantastic numbers) but definitely one of the ones that doesn’t fit the mould

I think he is pretty limited and I’m not surprised that they’ve tried to move past him but inexcusable squad management to not have a backup spinner in the squad even if they were planning on backing Bashir in. Whether that be Leach or Dawson, I’m pretty confident they’d have performed a better role than the part time spinners. It’s not like Bashir was setting the world alight and him being unplayable was a massive surprise. Same goes with the lack of batting reserves when Pope and Crawley came in with awful form

We've done it too in the past.

Wayne Phillips springs to mind immediately.
