Hmm... Of the midfielders who played more than 10 games in 2024, I see 5 Richmond midfielders, including Hopper, who had worse ratings than him. McIntosh was the 2nd worse rated mid in the entire competition who'd played more than 10 games.

Hopper played 12 x mostly injury riddled games in 2024, so thank God Ginbey out-rated him ...also glad he out-rated Dow and Mcintosh who are crap and were both delisted this year. And Ralphsmith and Banks who've basically never played centre square midfield in their life.

Ginbey's 2023 was worse than 2024, but it was his debut season, so fair enough....but here are his rankings for 2024 - 15+ games and 25% CBA attendance (Ginbey had 33%). This ensures we are comparing similar positional players:

Ginbeys best position is defence. So too is Bo Allen and Hough. Hewetts best position is half forward. CDT as a mobile tall forward in the 2 metre Peter mould that may chip out in the ruck.

All will turn out to be contributors in those positions in a team that will hopefully be decent in time.

Most Eagles supporters would actually agree with you, with the caveat that we haven't seen what Allan is capable of in the midfield at AFL level because he hasn't played there yet. We'll get a look at it this year, as he's training to play on the wing.

Hough played a couple of good games in the midfield in 2025, despite not playing there since his first season and never training there but it's true he's a much better lockdown defender, so why move him?
