If someone put a public bounty on my head I'd become increasingly angry and worried about it and continually upgrade my security. I wouldn't show any mercy to people that came after me either. If anything I'd be paranoid about everything anyone did and far more likely to behave like a campaigner.

There's isn't a really legality egg is only binary, the alternative wasn’t ‘Maduro rules forever unless you kidnap him’. That’s a false binary used to justify abandoning international law and precedent after the fact. Once you accept that logic, you’ve accepted that outcomes justify any method.
