Did you know football (the 'soccer' kind, is named thus, not because of the exclusive foot -> ball action, but rather because it's played 'on foot' - in contrast to horse-based sports like polo
Petition to call polo hoofball

India, pound for pound, would easily be the worst sporting nation
The fact that they don't win every single game of cricket they play in a whitewash is an indictment on them. Australia beating India at cricket should be like Guam beating Australia at cricket. Instead it happens regularly.

And I would feel reasonably confident, maybe not now but definitely in the past, that Australia A could give their reserves a touch up too.

Like ok maybe finding 12 world class elite cricketers is hard, but they should at least be able to muster more depth than anyone else, easily.

I reckon part of India's problem is their conditions only breed a certain style of player so regardless of a giant population & huge participation rates it doesn't equate to well rounded players for other conditions around the world.

It’s more a socioeconomic issue. No matter how good someone is at a sport (even cricket), it’s generally not encouraged as failure could mean a life of poverty. The aim is to go to university and get a job.

Pursuing sport is generally reserved for the extremely privileged.

I'm sure you are right however any cricketer will tell you it's easier to adjust down to lower slower bounce than adjust up & they struggle with the bounce in places like Australia.

Lindsay Vonn, I mean WTF?

Ruptures her ACL a week ago, straps it up, and competes in the Winter Olympics.

Skiing with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee, the American clocked a time of 1min 40.33sec in her first official run in Cortina d’Ampezzo, which was delayed for more than an hour due to fog hanging over the Olimpia delle Tofane piste.

This is why Sachin Tendulkar is so popular there. The story being, correct or not, that he came from nothing to dominate for decades when the rest of the cricket team was selected from the "right" places and the "right" families.

Lewis Hamilton a fair shout for the same circumstances.
