Maybe there is a senior player that plays in tge same position?

I haven’t seen him play (not sure what position either) but I imagine his non selection is because club doesn’t want to go all out with inexperienced players at once.
Well Fogerty has experience, he's not exactly lighting the house on fire is he?

Anyway, its Round 1...trying not to get my panties in a knot..

Some really do love their shiny new toys. If any of these youngsters is good enough they will get a crack as the year wears on, guaranteed.
I understand that mentality. We're not going well, so we hope that the answer is lying in wait, a young player not getting their chance.

The reality is, unfortunately, that they're often not the answer, or at least not a comprehensive one. Hopefully in time they're part of the answer, and we set them up for success.

In my opinion, that means easing them in gradually, giving them the time and the low-stakes minutes to grow into the level before we ask them to perform at it. I think our current mix of youth is good, and agree it will likely grow throughout the year.

What a difference a week makes.

This time last week I was giddy with anticipation.

Today I'm apprehensive. We just need to win this. A 4 quarter performance is what I'd really love to see.

Young comes out the moment Haynes is ready. In saying this I think its probably unnecessary to play a 4th key defender at all, Richmond have Lynch at 199cm, Faull 195cm, Armstrong 195cm.. We should easily be able to account for them with Weiters, McGovern & Dean making Young unnecessary.
McGovern is more unnecessary as a defender, and worse when classed as a KPD.

Wow, one round in and some people stating they'd rather we lose than we win, there's been some collective loss of minds over the past week, expecting a win and maybe a more settled board over the coming fortnight.

Whilst I would simply take the 4 points, I would like us to get off to a strong start and then run out the game dominant.. A win where we control the game but then let them back into the game, especially if it comes with a 4 goal run on will do nothing to keep the critics at bay.. We just need to silence everyone, especially our own fans and give the team and Voss some breathing room.. This will only be achieved by a dominant performance.

he he .. and if we keep on loosing...they not happy ;) :D
To be fair , I don't see myself being happy if we keep losing, but I won't lose my mind over it.

No, no comebacks allowed (but that’s footy, right, it’s rarely one-way traffic for 4 x Q’s). Dig in with better game concentration, with an emphasis on our mids.

Wet weather or just a chilly night?

Further, Moir had 5 score involvements, 9 pressure acts, 2 clearances while Fogarty had 1, 4 and 0.

Moir went at 80% efficiency while kicking it more (7/3) compared to Fog at 64% handballing more (5/9).

It doesn’t make sense that we dropped the kid.
Crazy Vossy, he will never change.

Zero tackles.
Too simplistic. Depends on the KPI. If you're instructed to gut run to cover the outlets on transition, you're not going to be in a position to tackle. You'll be judged on how often the opposition were able to transition through a loose man at half back or centre wing.

Im not a fan of Fogarty and look forward to better options becoming available, but I understand why the MC might not want to give up that role.

Giddey, those 17 assists from yesterday wouldn't go astray, can we find him a spot on the half forward line

Newman missing from that - wonder if his suspension makes him ineligible as this is a formal practice match?
I would've expected so, helps take a week off his suspension if nothing else.

But I don't agree entirely with Moir out. You develop a player like this in the AFL. He's been used poorly. Not enough time at half forward and in the middle.

Fogarty 14 possessions, No Score, No Tackles, terrible disposal. This is the elephant in the room and I will continue to be adamant that Voss can not coach. Moir, 10 possessions, 1 goal and 4 tackles. I get forwards get roles, and sometimes have to defend. This is what you get from Voss. Defaulting back to old players who are terrible player.
What you're highlighting gb is that neither Fogarty or Moir had a great game against the Swans. It's possible and probable that the coaches didn't just take the Swans game stats in assessing them, but also took into account their performance in the practice games against the Lions and Cats.

Not sure which game, but I recall Fogarty had a very good game in one of the praccy matches. I noticed it because I'm not the greatest fan of Fogarty but he got my attention when I saw him kicking the ball longer than he normally does, was running and linking up well, and also involved in some great assists - especially the one where he was running and gave the quick handball to Moir for a goal. I thought maybe with Ainsworth, Hayward, Jagga, Elijah around him that maybe Fogarty had become a useful cog.

Whereas, I don't think Moir featured much in the praccy games and that poor form carried through to the Swans game.
