he has played 1 game. It is far too early to say anything about any 2025 rookie, especially given the 2 guys drafted over him are long-term prospects

Really liked that third quarter from the Eagles. Dug in and made it difficult for the Suns. You're not gonna win many games this year so you may as well be hard to beat.

Won the quarter which is a big positive.

Shanahan is going to be a star.

I'd still be pretty sick about only being 3 worse off. Suns definitely took their foot off the gas tbf in the second half

I'm not actually having a pop at West Coast. Turning up with a 200+ pressure rating and 73 tackles is a fair effort with incredibly young team in difficult conditions. They were just way too good.

It's sort of scary that Gold Coast absorbed that and looked like they were going to put 150 points on you at one point. We found out the same last week. We were a long way from our best but they carved us up in an unbelievable way.

Just write it off and move on. North at home with Baker back is a very different challenge.

Did Eagles make a mistake not drafting Sam Grlj? 🤔

Did the Tigers butcher the 2024 draft?

It’s looking decent, you had 7 of the top 28 picks and you might have 1 of the top 10 at the moment if we are being generous.

I’d argue West Coast probably have one of the top 5-10 in Shanahan.

Well we did only have 2 picks in the top 10, ones played a game and he's probably the best of the lot 🤔

Bit early for that anyway. My comment was tongue in cheek.

Faull had just as many disposals and scoring shots and 2 more marks than Shanahan did this arvo btw. And was matched up on Weitering most of the night. Just needs to sort his kicking out. Also coming off no pre season last year and an interrupted one this year. We're all pretty happy with him at this stage 👍

Which players do you think Richmond took in the 2024 draft that are no good?

Unsure yet, the question is, who do you know for certain IS good?

There's plenty of players from that draft I'm fairly certain will be very good players, if not a chance at AA types in the future.

Richmond had a blanket of picks and I'm not sure I'd have 1 in there yet. What I mean by that is, they had a huge opportunity to land some of these and they are mostly at other clubs.

They even prioritised KPP's in that draft and a lot of the best young KPP's to my eye so far are at other clubs, despite those early picks.

You might be going off about 15 years too early in assessing the value of these guys' careers. Five of our 2024 draftees are 195+ cm key position players, who are notorious for taking until about their 5th or 6th season before you can tell how good they actually are. The 3 that are under 195cms, are Lalor, Hotton, Alger.

Below is what the ratings thought of Lalor & Hotton and last season. Lalor was off very little pre-season, Hotton was coming off an ACL. The other one, Alger, was taken at pick 58. He was the youngest in his draft, played 4 games, and was the 40th highest rated player from the draft class in 2025.

Which ones do you think have under-performed?

Mini wont see out the year if we have another year of this. I get its not his fault but even in year two you have show some progress.
If they dont improve yes it is his fault

Ahhh round 1 is in the books. Now, for the North hope to crash and burn when we beat them in Perth. Destroying North's hopes of a good year, and giving us hope that we've turned the corner, which will be crushed the following week when Port who will be winless (after losing the Essendon) do us over by 100.

Football is a cruel mistress.

How good is it having footy back? 😁

So the AFal assistance to the Eagles is already better than what North received?

If you actually think that is the case........

That's says alot.
In your first year of assistance (we all know you'll need more) you got a first round pick and four rookie spots. We got a couple of later future picks we had to trade for Darcy tucker and Griffin Logue and two rookie spots for two or three seasons.

Lets wait till it all pans out before we compare everything.

I would like to think most people hate it, but are just annoyed that people pin it as one of the WOAT trades. I know I am in that boat. It's a stinker but it's not like we got nothing and not like we have ruined our rebuild.
I thought trading our FF for a 2nd rounder (Matt Whitlock) was a bit sketchy at the time. Now I'm not so sure to be honest. Might work out okay.

Haha there's no ****in way Lalor is better than Harley Reid already. Its just Cornes doing what he does.
We all know he's doing that so no one mentions Lalor may have gone past Horne Francis.
