Campbell was outstanding. When he faded from the game is when we hit the wall. Baltas contract is worse than Hoppers. He's only 2 games into the 7 years. Atleast Hopper is nearly half way through.
Salary is the least of our problems atm and I'd say Balta's contract is heavily front loaded so we have the cash to sign any of the youngsters up on a long term big contract if they become guns.

Out: Serpell -- across 2 years the soft tissues are mounting up
Both old and young players too.

if gold coat lost their ruck and full forward instead of us u reckon we wouldve won ?

huns player was arrogant as in the interview just then and said "we felt we should have been further infront"

Lol, they also lost their best player at a similar time. We hung in for as long as we could, but they were always going to overun us. They can run all day, we definetly can not.

How good is the talk all pre season how we want to "inject some speed and youth" into the midfield, then we proceed to trot out the same bullshit of hopper, prestia and taranto for 80% of the game

**** off

I accidentally took a wrong turn and ended up in the maudlin quagmire known as the "Have Richmond gone past North and WCE with their rebuild?" thread.

There's like the ghosts of about 40,000 WCE posters all trapped in that hell. They laughing and jeering and gnashing teeth and sobbing but worst of all, they devour all new posts that enter that place... kind of like it's the only food they get to eat 🤔.

A heap of em were right up on me and were about to get me but I cleverly piffed some fire crackers into the corner and they all turned and heaved and loped after the sound.

And... I made it out and I am as right as ever lads.

Now then, is Nank really injured?

Salary isnt the problem, getting stuck with these players on the list long term is. Balata has been an awful defender for a long time now, Hopper looks completely finished. The modern game aint for him.

Have said it many times but Balta is too dumb to think about intercepting while being responsible for someone. Ends up in no man’s land. He plays better when there’s other guys chopping out i.e an in form Vlastuin/Broad or a genuine third tall.

In the corresponding game last year Vlastuin was BOG picking them off from everywhere while Balta just concentrated on being up King's ass and he beat him comfortably.

Yeah but tomorrow they have to play. They will leave the thread then, North prob do em by 12 goals in Perth.

Yeah but other teams have learnt that, so will always create a bad situation for us. You cant carry dumb players in the modern game.

Let’s hit them with the gas bombs and go in hard

But you said Yze lets the senior players pick themselves. You’ve called it out, replace them.
So you think they actually should've been picked every single week they played the last couple of years? Be so for real.

If you want examples for next week, then we should drop Hopper for Kane McAuliffe instead of some youngster. We should drop Balta for Gray. We should give Taranto less midfield minutes than he currently has. Needs to spend time forward while we give Lalor more midfield minutes. We shouldn't pick Ralphsmith next week, and we should give Alger a block of games.

The point is, phasing out senior players is one part of developing a side. However, I really don't think Yze's done that. If you look at our side, our seniors played pretty much the exact same role as they did under Hardwick. If it isn't their position, then it is their status in our side. If they were best 22 (e.g., Hopper and Prestia), then they remain as such under Yze regardless of whether they should be there or not. If they were in and out of the side (e.g., McIntosh), then they remained like that under Yze.

He should be more like Sam Mitchell, who went in and made his mark. He traded players others thought were essential to his side (e.g., Brownlow medallist Tom Mitchell & O'Meara) and selected instead a group of 'no-names' that ended up carving a name for themselves. That's what I want to see from Yze. If we're losing by 60+ points anyway, then it doesn't matter who they need to be replaced with at any given week. I just want their position to be vulnerable enough to require them to perform well week in week out. That is what standards are for.

lol fattracca went in the 3rd

hes not the player he was anyway

We were in it up to our eyeballs before arguably the worst injury we could get for our structure and how we wanted to play.
Gold Coast are flag favourites and we were able to completely stifle the way they wanted to play and be the better team for the best part of a half of footy.
He gets a lot of stick on this board but I thought Sonsie was incredible that first half. Comfortably best on ground for up until HT.
I took a lot out of that first half.

The injuries are obviously catastrophic. Lynch can at least be replaced by Fawcett who should, at the very least give us a contest. OHB will get his debut for the club which is exciting even if Ryan was only a week away in the injury report, there's no way he would come straight in.
Alger has to come in and I suspect Green will be the one to make way.

Hopper can consider himself very lucky that there are going to be a couple of forced changes as I don't think they will drop him. If it's me though, I'd still drop him and put McAuliffe into his role. He was absolutely putrid today, I couldn't believe what I was watching. Inexcusable performance.

Changes I'd make;
Out: Lynch (inj), Nank (inj), Green (omit), Hopper (omit)
In: Fawcett, OHB, Alger, McAuliffe

Even though we got pumped, I'm not mad about it as I think if we don't cop those injuries we would have stuck around all day.
I forgot about Faull who will come straight back in but I feel Fawcett deserves another crack. I feel he would give us a better contest than Armstrong but would be rough to drop Armstrong.

Apples and oranges.
While you can’t replace Trac, GC have plenty of runners, ball winners, and forwards to cover.
Lefau battled hard but is no first ruck.
Lynch out meant our i50s were easy meat for their well drilled backs.

Everyone tried, im proud that we game them a scare. The game was frustrating to watch in the last half.
our injuries are mounting, and Id say we have a handful of players not match ready.

But, overall they have way too much class and were always going to come home strong.

1) Baltas best position for the team is not a defender, said it 100 times. We have other options for that.
2) Hopper will play once more next week and the fking week after that.
3) Some great signs from the kids. Hope some VFL players get a game.
4) TT is not a midfielder for the 100th fking time.
5) We lost two big men we couldnt cover and it took the wind out of our sails.
6) if our numb nut coaches dont make at least 5 changes ill be pissed.

Agree with the sentiment.
But who would you have put in there that was available today?

we are at least a decade away from finals
Spoon is well and truly back in play
We looked ok for a quarter and half then shat the bed, to loose , lost our pressure etc etc , seen at least 7 frees not given from 5 rows back from
The fence but the ump who is right there doesn’t call it 😂
Shit coast won’t win the flag either even with there CFL assisted draw . Our players make alot of errors turnover to much .

Best post in this thread. Everything is spot on.
