My uncle just called me from work to tell me a Carlton bloke, who he says knows a lot about the inside information from the club, says that Justin Davies coming back to the Blues is just about a done deal.

We all know he never got along with Pagan.

But didn't he have a crook back?

Ratten was a fan of his, giving him number 7 jumper at one stage.

I thought he had a shitload of talent, but I'd be surprised if we got him late in the draft...

How old is he now?
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he go back to Shepparton because his partner had a baby? Plus he had that dodgy back?

Yeah Ratts was a fan but I would be surprised asking him to come back. I thought his back was pretty though...

If that happened i would dack myself and run around the MCG and end up having a heart attack half way through.

We delisted him because of a back injury...what's changed? He just got better?

The bad back was never really confirmed. Could just have been a cover up to Denis not liking him.

Not saying it's going to happen, or that he didn't have a bad back, but remember that Denis didn't like him, and that Ratts obviously did, otherwise there's no way he would have given Davies his number.

This time last year, Brett Ratten himself told me (and Bluegal1983) that Davies' back was cactus, and he could barely stand upright. I'd be surprised if this is true, and club took him back.

My only thought is that this years draft is very thin down the order, and perhaps the club could be looking at him as a mature rookie.

Aren't mature rookies required to not have been on an AFL list? The obvious exception was Rama but that was only allowed after every club agreed to it.

Was a poor mans Houlihan.
Shit loads of talent just didn't seem to have the application.
I'd be happy to give him another chance although i find it unlikely that he will come back.

His partner had a baby well before he made the move back to Shep.

Maybe McKay will come out of retirement as well, aparently he didn't like Pagan.

Davies will be 25 next season. Would rather take a chance on an 18y.o. project player..........or Willie Mason.:thumbsu:

Willie Mason has never been on a senior list, so could prob mature age him:p

It would be great for the kid to overcome the injury and play again (Christou-ish)...

If there is no one else outstanding in the PSD and the medical staff think he's got a good chance of being alright a 1 year min wage contract wont hurt.

Also thinking about it a bit more perhaps he's the "secret"... maybe he's been training the house down in private just so the Tiges don't get a sniff of his return... no one would risk picking him up not seeing him in action prior to the PSD and medical exam...

It wouldn't surprise me when pick 2 PSD is called we say J.Davies.

"he is an elite talent"?????

how?
he struggled to perform and hold his place in one of the worst sides ever.
i'd prefer a younger kpp or ruck talent

no. next

I'm pretty sure he got through a full season of Goulburn Valley Football League (very good standard) with Shepp United this year and dominated.

If Ratten rates him highly enough to bring him back and all his medical reports check out, I wouldn't be against it.

Considering it doesn't look like there will be anything of quality in the PSD and with apparantly a shallow draft this year, we could do worse than giving him a one year, minimum salary contract.

He definitely has the talent and by playing for a coach who believes in him we might see the best of him.
