Is an argument used as a last resort because you can't win football related. But I'm not surprised. You'd be well revised on those.

You can't win ANY games of football if your club ceases to exist. Richmond being crap right now is your last resort argument because realistically, you don't know one way or the other weather your club will make it out of this mess. Personally i would rather be crap right now, and be assured of a futre. :thumbsu:

Yeah it's a shame he won't be there in a year or so to utilise the $7m redeveloped facilities.

lol your finances are shrouded in as much mystery as Terry's 5 year plan. Lets all hold our breath and wait for that $7 million re development hey!

I also wouldn't want a NM player touching the door handle to get in to Richmonds admin building knowing I urinated on it one night waiting for FINALS tickets.

To watch your team get flogged by 80+ points no doubt!

The destabilising has been going on for years. This is the most stable we've been for ages thanks to Ron Joseph and JB. Good things to come.

If this is the most stable you have been in ages you are well and truly stuffed. May as well shut up shop now.

Most North fans would agree that an AFL led coup detat has been well and truly underway for 2 to 4 years.
These Gold Coast plans have been winding their way through the fax machines at a couple of clubs in the last few years, including neatly typed plans with all sorts of recognisable signatures attached.

No, we've taken on a new major sponsor, 3 second tier sponsors, a revamped board that is hellbent on remaining viable in Melbourne, 4 multi million dollar businessmen have also entered the fray with the same intention. Our membership is also the highest it's ever been at this time of the year without the benefit of a history of auto renewal. It wasn't a last resort argument. Twas an argument that was brought up because I was flabbergasted a Richmond supporter of all people would be opening their gob about off field finances, since I contributed to yours when you were ****ed, and are a laughing stock on the field.

Well, when you've got nothing else, I guess.

You can hold your breath if you like. Who knows? It might wake up your brain. Meanwhile I'll admiringly look over the plans again.

No, to watch my team win a premiership. Have you ever been to see your team win a premiership? :thumbsu::o

The article is a bit of a beat up but the conversation did actually take place. I was at the cafe with my girlfriend sitting two tables over last thursday. While it wasn't 'heated' and Vlad wasn't necessarily the 'foghorn' he is accused of, it did spark the interest of several onlookers.

Now that's spooky. One BF person overhears the alleged conversation, and it's this troll. The girlfriend part is just about the hardest thing to believe in this whole sad thread.

If winning is all that matters, and you finished 4th and won a final... Why are you in so much trouble?

We came third. It's one of the intricacies of a finals system with which you would be completely unfamiliar.

On the contrary, i think new supporters would be wise to latch onto a strong club who will be around in two years instead of jumping aboard a sinking ship!

I heard that back in the 1970's, 4 premierships later!!:D

I didn't bring the Tigers into this - Kangaroos fans did. Infact, you mentioned Richmond before I even posted in this thread.

The Kangaroos to quote Glenn Archer you have been in financial difficulties in 1943, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and now. Hardly a result of recent media and television exposure. Its long term not just a flash in the pan.

Most clubs during pre 70s struggled to make ends meet so that doesn't put us in a minority group. It has really been since the 70s that football has grown to the point where it is not a purely amateur grade sport.

A problem for us has been periods of success have been met with long periods in no-mans land so we have minimised what we gain from good eras. We were very poor in the 80s after a good mid-to-late 70s period. We have been poor this decade after a good mid-to-late period in the 90s.

On top of that we had zones which have been rather limiting in the past, teams like Bulldogs still draw a majority of their supporters from the West, Hawthorn from the East, even Essendon from the North. Most other sides have a dispersed inner suburban catchment area but most others have benefit from being in the VFL from inception.

The North Melbourne/Hotham area is a heavily industrialised area and is not a huge population centre which had close proximity to other sides as we were stuck in the middle so we like a few other clubs have a dispersed supporer base which makes it hard for the club to identify and service.

In this modern era, however, clubs can focus on areas beyond their normal historical boundaries. If our club picks a region of Melbourne and just focuses time, effort and resources then we will grow and develop supporters from that region. It doesn't mean we will be the only team followed but it takes resources to develop a supporter base and in the decades previous to the ones Archer mentioned we did nothing in the past to prepare for the future.

It is why we are in this position because nobody at the club had the foresight in the 70s or 80s to pick a region and develop it. Had the club done that then we wouldn't be here having this conversation. We have to do that now so in the next 10, 20 or 30 years the club doesn't have the same issues.

If just having members is all that matters, why is Birmingham City struggling?

Home and away. Its a funny system when you can go UP one position after being flogged twice for a combined total of 190 odd points lol. In any case - it doesnt change the fact that we are bad on the field, but still have support. Even through all your success, you are a financial basketcase.

I looked at your profile and it reminded me of a joke lol. Two people were walking down the street, one of them was a writer and the other had no money either.

It is called playing in finals and winning a semi-final. I know we are delving into virgin territory for most Tigers supporters here.

Who would have thought.. I said this a little while back. Andy D doesn't want the Roos to relocate. By the time they are broke it will be time for the new club to enter.

Its already built and in use, olympic pool, gym and running track, makes sense to use it but it is currently open to the public as a gym / rec area, not sure how that would work.

The interesting thing is it was built by none other than GC mayor Ron Clarke.
A Gold Coast politician in a dodgy conflict-of-interest over a property development?

And what a success story you were in your other two finals matches lol. If you make finals and are utterly embarrassed, is it really that big of an achievement? I mean, are you honestly happy with this years finals series because you won one match to a lackluster hawthorn?

Pssssst. I didn't say having members is all that matters. The north bloke said that winning is all that matters. Learn to read!

No just expanding on the argument run by some that they are somehow more succesful, because my membership total is bigger than your membership total.

You finished in what position again?

Last!!!

LoL, whats that like??

Oh what question?

Its pretty bad being the butt of everyones jokes for an entire season, and the off season. Its exciting around trade time because you see a lot of action and theres a lot of hype, and it makes for an exciting off season because really, the only way is up.

What's it like to spend the final few weeks of the season knowing that you will be playing finals footy, all of the excitement, and then seeing your team totally fall apart in a 17 goal flogging??

Or how about making a semi final, a week out from the grannie, and throwing it away to the tune of another 15 odd goals? Furthermore, how did it feel then seeing the team who beat you get flogged by a further 100 points?

My initial question was, do you reflect on this years finals series and give it a tick or a cross?

We had no Thompson, Corey Jones, Harding while Harris played with a broken hand and Firrito needed surgery before the finals began. I think getting to 4th position with a list everyone rated as bottom 4 was a fantastic effort.

Anyone with a half a brain, you obviously failing to make the grade, would say what we achieved with what we had available was a magnificent effort. For you to be trying to pass our finals achievement as anything other than a positive, given your side won yet another wooden spoon, just highlights what a clueless moron you are.

Port Adelaide who had a full list and vastly more experience than us, with recent finals success, ended up getting thumped by more than we did by the Cats and they didn't get rogered by the umpires lie we did.

F*ck me, how long do you guys want to get up, youre always on the way up.

Thats is the most pathetic reasoning I have ever heard..."how does it feel to get into the finals only to be thrashed?" So what you are saying is its better to spend an entire season at the bottom of the ladder because its better to get the season over and done with? Thats pathetic and you know it.

So if we won a final against a lacklustre Hawthorn what exactly does that make Richmond?

I think you should maybe stick to trying to win some games, stop worrying about what is happening at North and try to see how it feels to make a semi final yourselves. Dont worry about North, cos we aren't worried about you.
