Hey guys, curious as to how this guy has fitted into the club so far. he real was one of the nice guys in footy who had horrible luck, i think any self respecting footy fan is hoping he does well. If he can get fit, he will be a sensational player for your team, a spine of the following would have to be the best in the afl

Merret
Maguire (fully fit)
Rich
Brown
Fevola

anyhow, the reports from carltank in the preseason were that maguire was still struggling physically, im wondering how he has looked at your club. i hope he is getting on top of thos injuries as if he does it will be one of the feel good stories in the afl over the last few years

cheers :thumbsu:

He's moving freely and looking pretty darn good, I reckon. No doubt benefitting from having his rod out.

He may still fear no evil, if his (remaining) staff comforts him.

*taking the biblical interpretation here.

I predict replies...many replies.

....peh...

Was talking to a former Lions player who is still heavily involved with the club and his opinion was that Maguire was the most exciting and beneficial recruit to join the club. What he did say, was that Maguire will finally add that bit of mongrel to the defensive group that we have lacked for some time.

Maguire gets his rod out and everyone is happy, Fev gets a fake rod out during Carlton's Mad Monday and the world falls apart.

The world is a weird place.

Matt Maguire is a brilliant pick up. I'm annoyed with St Kilda for delisting him.
My mail is that he had finally got himself right half way through 2009 but for some reason he was not favoured by Ross Lyon. He is not the first player to cop this and he wont be the last.

Aaron Fiora, Shane Birss, Luke Ball, Xavier Clarke and Matt Maguire have all been delisted/traded despite performances that would suggest they are first 22 players.

I wish Matty well and I think you will find you have a gem in Xavier Clarke as well.

Some sort of weird synergy happening, the Sainters have recruited well from us, Voss, Gram, but under an ex lions player, Lyons, we are returning the favour.

Yeah all reports from here are that he is training the house down.

Lyon certainly forms very strong opinions either way on players.

Ross backs himself. Probably is brutal but caring. Is willing to sacrifice players to achieve a flag. Bit like Leigh, or Vossy.

A grade defender cruelled by injury, could be the steal of the decade.
Perfect fit for the lions as a much needed energetic backline option.
At pick 91 this very determined, experienced, strong 25 yo could well gel with other like-mined lion champs. Lady luck be kind.
