Naked - It took me a couple of days to watch in full and I wouldn't exactly say I enjoyed it, but I highly recommend people check this one out. Really depressing stuff but some amazing acting, excellent cinematography and music make it worth your while. In a sea of terrible people, Greg Cruttwell's character stands out as one of the worst I've ever seen on film.

This film is brilliant and would definitely be up near my Top 10. How good is David Thewlis in this??? Incredible Mike Leigh movie. My friend and I used to quote Sebastian Hawkes/Jeremy Smart all the time because he is such a creep.

I actually for dragged to see 'We Bought A Zoo' the other night as my little niece wanted me to take her and it wast as god awful as I expected. I didnt like it all (it's the typical Cameron Crowe chick flick syrupy crap) but I expected way worse...

Just finished watching Red State, after it sitting on my downloaded 'to watch' movie list for ages. Holidays affording me time to get thru them.

I thought it was an interesting movie plot-wise, how the story develops, so many moments are totally unexpected, you really have no idea how it's going to play out in the end, let alone from one scene to the next. It happens so regularly thru the film right thru to the very last shot that it must've been deliberate, and for that I give Kevin Smith a huge :thumbsu:

Hard to narrow down my all time Top 10, but it would be (off the top of my head) the following:

A Woman Under The Influence
Taxi Driver
The Conversation
The Battle Of Algiers
Z
The French Connection
Down By Law
A Man Escaped
The Seven Samurai
Heat

I like this top ten list idea. I think I'll add mine.

Currently:

The Seventh Seal
Crimes and Misdemeanours
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
12 Angry Men
Inherit the Wind
Through a Glass Darkly
Life of Brian
Duck Soup
The last two spots would be a tie between: 'Paris, Texas', '2001: A Space Odyssey', 'Fargo', 'No Country for Old Men', 'Lost in Translation'.

There are so many films I want to see that I haven't seen yet, so this list is obviously subject to change.

Mighty impressive list Asgardian, highlighted those that'd make my top 100 :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Now I'm not liking this idea much :) people are gonna post millions of movies, and my 'to watch' list, which is already too large, is exploding as i copy-paste these added lists, will take 5 lifetimes to get thru now.

Ignore the lists and watch We need to talk about Kevin
Has no one really bothered yet?

Thanks for saving me Harker, I was drowning in quicksand, my head spinning like a kid in a candy store.

I will download this now just for you ;)

No, but do yourself a favour (in the old Molly way)
Happy (wrong word), interesting and intruiging viewing. :thumbsu:

Addendum:
For anyone with a wife/partner that has had kids, this may make for some insightful viewing.
Watch together, but it may not be easy.

After Asgardian's 100 and my own trying to narrow down to 10, I think we're going to need top 20 lists. I think I'll get on to it early next year.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - Just brilliant. Love everything about it and will continue to watch it at regular intervals.

Damn, totally forgot Kieslowski! I would have to fit in The Double Life of Veronique and Three Colours White into my list somehow.

Serenity - Cheap and childish mishmash of other movies' concepts and moments. Still kind of enjoyable but looked amateur and the comic/heavier scenes were just too conflicting.

It's A Wonderful Life - Yeah, for the seventh, eighth or ninth time. Never fails to rivet. Amazing that it was not more excitedly received when it was released. Apparently the only reason it's a household name now is because someone forgot to renew copyright, it entered public domain, TV stations started throwing it our way, and of course only the truly psychopathic failed to fall in love with it.

An interesting list, you are not a fan of early cinema / silents / pre 1960's for the most part based on what I'm reading above (with a few exceptions)

I dont want to sound like a prick, and dont get me wrong, some of the top 100 lists are amazing, but if you "cant possibly" narrow it down to a top 10 dont do one. Clearly we are all massive cinemaphiles but if you really cant think of your top 10 loved movies listing a top 100 just looks pretentious.

Pretty much. Cant think of many pre-WWII films I would watch on a regular basis. I don't think I've ever seen a silent film to be honest (apart from 'Metropolis' I think?). French new wave and 70s are definitely my preferred genres
