Why not both?

I did that last year once.. had a 30 min break in btwn movies

I have only ever seen back to back movies at the cinema once and that was Ring and Ring 2. Japanese versions. Thankfully, there was a break of about 40 minutes in between, because I was freaked out and needed to go and get some fresh air.

This hot weather reminds me of a time a couple of years ago on a stinking hot humid night I headed to Nova and saw an 11pm session of the Jim Jarmush doco on The Stooges, Gimme Danger. Brilliant doco and a fantastic way to beat the heat. Only 4 other people in the cinema.

Would highly recommend a late night movie session on a stinking hot night.

The only overnight movie marathons that I have sat through were the horror movie marathons that used to be on Saturday nights (I think on channel 9) back in the late 70s. Lots of classic horror films and I used to sit up with my older brothers and sisters.

Great fun 👍

Rampage - my god, i was already giggling at the trailer many months ago on how bad it looked. Actually watching it - bad pacing, horrible lead chemistry and woeful script, ended up being more depressing than "so bad, its funny". The Rock phoned this one in big time with the only redeemable value in this was Jeffrey Dean Morgan hamming it up with a cowboy demeanor and southern accent (which was most amusing). Thankfully watched this on streaming, would be mega pissed if I spent 20 bucks to watch this at a cinema. 1/10.

Has anyone seen the new Storm Boy? I've heard it got mixed reviews at best.

You can't beat the 1976 version but the original tralier didn't do it any favours.

I loved the original. Bought it on DVD recently and watched it with my son. He is keen to go and see the remake, so will probably get along.

It was probably the first Australian book that I read when I arrived here as a kid from England and we went to see the movie with school.

Brooklyn - really engaging film about a young woman's immigration from ireland to america, captures it spectacuarly and can imagine this would be a favourite for many immigrants, covers the whole homesickness angle very well which can be brutal.

Saorise ronan absolutely knocks this out of the ball park, not sure if she won the oscar for this or not but would be a worthy winner if she did, amazing actor that further reminds you of the difference between what you get out of watching the movie star to an actual legitimate performer doing what they do best. The landlord lady who houses the immigrants was hilarious as well and felt very real.

Agree absolutely. Loved this movie. Saoirse Ronan is fantastic.

Julia Walters is the landlady. Been nominated for a couple of Oscars and won a few BAFTAS. She is always magnificent.

I remember the midnight movie marathons, a couple of different options, some people in their PJs.

They should bring them back- especially in the summer. Would have been great last night in particular.

But yeah working them was tough. Was an absolute zombie by the time 6am came around- on your feet all night basically.

I liked it but cheesy monster movies are a fave, especially those old Japanese Godzilla epics.

Tried watching Mortal Engines last night but fell asleep 15 minutes in.

Don't get me wrong - am a sucker for disaster or destruction movies (my secret shame). This one was just horrible.

I also loved playing the ‘80s coin op game the movie is based on. Hours of fun..

Phantom Thread

It's very well crafted and the performances by Daniel Day-Lewis and Vicky Krieps are fantastic. But the subject matter of dressmaking bored me shitless. I know it's really a character piece but none of the characters were likeable. I hit the FF button a few times.

Just watched 2017's "Mother!"

Worst film I've ever seen. Has some big stars in it. I get it, but it was a stupid ******* movie nonetheless, and extremely long.

Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

Avoid like the plague.

GG's Rating: 0.0 / 10

Absolute ****ing piece of shit movie.

Jennifer Lawrence’s head up arse gushing about how powerful and strong it was made it even Worse.

The Mule.

It was okay, but like a lot of Clint Eastwood's later work, seems to be targeted at people who dont get out much.

The screenplay is rather pedestrian but has some nice moments. You kind of wait for something to happen and it doesn't really. The theme / message is ok but come the denouement I'm not sure the protagonist was truly redeemed. It was kind of phoney.

2 stars
