Would Craig Thompsons father playing in 5 flags in the 50's count at all? (EG: Kochies dad played in the ressies too)

Its not the same. He's the son of great but doesn't make him a great. It does make you think he would respect the Magpies tradition and heritage though.

im sure he'd be great to have on the board, but for different reasons Wanganeen. Wanganeen is an extremely successful footballer and club legend, we need someone like him on the board. Thompson would be a great replacement for one of the other people on the board.

Craig Thompson sounds real impressive but there is absolutely no way Wanganeen doesn't win this
This is nothing more than a popularity contest and theres nearly no one more popular than Gav
Suitability for the role will play no part in this unfortunately

I love Gav as much as every Port supporter but being a great of the club doesnt automatically mean he will be a valuable board member. Thompson would be the smart choice but shouldnt have bothered.

I wonder if he knew he'd be up against Gav when he nominated? just making up the numbers and i see Gav winning this in a landslide

Do we really need another interstate based financial guru on the Board? I would have thought we need to balance things with some local talent. Maybe some people should look at the composition of the current Board and the number of Board Members who do not even live in Adelaide let alone go to Alberton and have a beer or a meal. I realise that we operate in a corporate world but we should also have some Adelaide based grassroots voices on the Board.

I also like George Fiacchi but from his profile statement I sounds like George was supportive of re appointing Hinkley at the end of 2017 and I have a real problem with that. The only saving grace is that the Board appear to have endorsed substantial personnel changes within the Football Department and the departure of Nicks, Lade etc. and their replacement with Montgomery, Schofield, Brogan etc. may be a 'new beginning'. Unfortunately for George he is the only Board Member I can vote off the Board but there are a few few others who I would gladly drop kick off the Board before him if I had a say in it.

Things would be a lot easier if Club decisions were transparent and we knew what the Hinkley re appointment process was and who voted for what as part of the process. Unfortunately we vote blind on issues such as that.

I admire Gavin and I think that it is still healthy to have a past player with success on the board however in saying this our club is not a minnow in the SANFL but instead an AFL club with multimillion dollar turnover, thus for me every board member needs suitable qualifications and experience with the corporate world. The other candidates do not appear to have the qualifications I feel are fitting for an AFL club and what we require. So that leaves Fiacchi who has the better level of business expertise amongst all four candidates and I have supported him in the past and I believe that he understands our club's needs and our identity and he is still driving that agenda. The re-appointment of Hinkley and the running of the football department doesn't sit well with me, thus I would want to see change in the board because of it, but not at the expense of voting in candidates that have less to offer.

Surley we can at least push for change.

How can we push? Not show up? Only way really.

How many are still on through that period anyway? They should be first

Pretty much my view as well.

By the by, Fiacchi lost me when he accused Port fans of being fairweather after ‘only’ 28000 turned up to the Bulldogs game during a Thursday night monsoon.

I assume he was sitting in the outer enjoying $50 rounds of beers instead of behind glass in a heated room with everything laid on.

Not quite Panas vee Firth, but my democracy sausage just stirred.

Isn't Alex Panas playing for Norwood?

But seriously. I like how Matthew Panos' bio on his SANFL page says he was recruited from Rostrevor (Not the bulldogs) and mentions nothing anywhere that he is an ex AFL listed player.

No ALF.

Enjoying the luxurious pre came functions, sitting inside with a warm meal, in a comfy chair, with a cold beer... All at the clubs expense.

Then there people like us, sitting in the pooring rain on the fance waving to Neale Daniher with the freeze beenie on.

The people at home are no more fair weather then he is, they'd all jump at the opportunity to be where he was.

"We gleefully raid the bins of ALF clubs every year, but let's keep that on the down low."

Never change Sanfl.

I had to remind George the other day on FB that the board, Admin and players are custodians of the club and the members are the true owners with no members there is no club, circa 2011-2012.

Saying that George did create a lot of good and passion which he deserves credit for.

I'm voting for Gav. I see a cv of Macquarie Bank millionaires factory and leadership consultant and i look elsewhere.

Gav's got a solid cv working with the club. I'm happy to be represented by someone who has worked in indigenous and anti violence against women programs.

The club's on-field and off-field performance over recent years demands there be a change at board level. And we have the opportunity to deliver it.

I voted for Wanganeen with my 2 votes. I believe of all the candidates, Gavin has the best understanding of member sentiment and will represent us the best. If Gavin was on the board over the last 2 years, there wouldn't have been the disconnect with supporters that we have seen coming from the club where we were effectively told to be grateful that it isn't 2011-12.

I like Thompson and hope he finds his way to the PAFC board at some stage, just not as a replacement for Fiacchi. We need to have a diverse board that contains at least 1 person who has a deep understanding of the supporter base and operates in the nexus between the football department, supporters and the board.

Here is the composition of the board
Koch (Chairman) - Television Presenter, Financial Journalist, Accountant
Osborn (Dep. Chairman) - Company Director (various industries), Accountant
Cardone - CEO (Media), MBA
Fiacchi - Director (Media), Business Adviser (various industries), Previous Player
Haslam - Consultant (Strategy & Risk), Engineer
Ransom - CEO (consultancy), Advisory, Millennial/Youth expert
Restas - Lawyer
Thiele - Company Director (various industries), Accountant
Vanstone - Politics, Director (various industries)
