Has Ransom actually benefited the club at all? It's great we have women on our board, but Hitaf Rasheed would do a better job.

Would ****ing love Hitaf, but I think that's unlikely.

Holly was parachuted onto the board without consultation to the members, so you can thank Koch for that one. Darren Cahill the same, but that seems a much more solid appointment on first look.

The club's on-field and off-field performance over recent years demands there be a change at board level. And we have the opportunity to deliver it.

I voted for Wanganeen with my 2 votes. I believe of all the candidates, Gavin has the best understanding of member sentiment and will represent us the best. If Gavin was on the board over the last 2 years, there wouldn't have been the disconnect with supporters that we have seen coming from the club where we were effectively told to be grateful that it isn't 2011-12.

I like Thompson and hope he finds his way to the PAFC board at some stage, just not as a replacement for Fiacchi. We need to have a diverse board that contains at least 1 person who has a deep understanding of the supporter base and operates in the nexus between the football department, supporters and the board.

Here is the composition of the board
Koch (Chairman) - Television Presenter, Financial Journalist, Accountant
Osborn (Dep. Chairman) - Company Director (various industries), Accountant
Cardone - CEO (Media), MBA
Fiacchi - Director (Media), Business Adviser (various industries), Previous Player
Haslam - Consultant (Strategy & Risk), Engineer
Ransom - CEO (consultancy), Advisory, Millennial/Youth expert
Restas - Lawyer
Thiele - Company Director (various industries), Accountant
Vanstone - Politics, Director (various industries)

Surely Darren Cahill fills this void?

Given she’s on the cusp of 30 it will be interesting to see how her shtick transitions from “I’m young!” to, you know, results.

Got to be Wanganeen.

2 Time premiership player, Brownlow Medalist (Robbed of a second), AFL Hall of Fame, Essendon Team of the Century, PAFC Inaugural AFL Captain. One of the Absolute all time greats.

We need someone who knows what it takes to succeed, to achieve what he was he knows about commitment and what it takes. Someone who can work into the club ask the hard questions and someone who cant be sold BS. Someone who can partner with Daren Cahill and work towards actually achieving something.

"Being on the cusp" for the last 4 years isn't good enough. We need people who know what it takes to take the next step, who want it and will do what it takes to get there.

Wanganeen isn't who you think he is based on this. He's a kitten.

Yeah, he was my coach in Year 12 and legit didn't yell, swear or get at all angry throughout the entire season. Lovely bloke but too gentle for the role people on here are expecting him to play if he's voted in.

I reckon some people need to look at what a board actually does and then ask themselves what does the guy they are voting for actually brings to the table.

Being a former star player with little to no business acumen, someone who struggled with leadership and their own finances ain't it.

For one they handed Hinkley his contract extension at the end of 2017. Thats where we need a successful football person (or sports person) to actually stand up and say, No this hasn't been earned yet. Wanganeen and Cahil would be these people.

We're a footy club not a financial institution. We need successful footy people not just bean counters and money men to be a successful footy club.

Look at the amount of Clubs that have successful football people on their boards.

I just did. Of the last 4 premiers, I could only find 2 former players on their current boards, Matthew Croft from Footscray and Richie Vandenburg for Hawthorn - neither of whom were particularly successful.

It's all about the optics.

The board needs an indigenous member if we are going to promote our Centre of Aboriginal Excellence and Leadership to the wider community. It's a key pillar in our strategy to become a powerhouse. People massively overrate business acumen at board level. As long as you have people who do understand the logistics of an idea somewhere down the line, or at board level, I say shoot for the stars instead of counting beans. That's why you have working groups etc.

I'm so very tired of this club worrying about what could happen instead of making what they want happen.

Bring Gavin on board to handle indigenous matters and be the face for that (and pair him up with one of the board members who poo poos China all the time), and then bring a Chinese national on board who has a definitive understanding of the Chinese way of thinking. Gavin can be a kitten, but the Chinese national needs to be full of fire and driven to succeed. He's the guy that should replace Cahill when he leaves.

This is already happening within her own fiefdom; it's much tougher to maintain the veneer of success when the results required are less 'fluffy'.

Brendon Gale at Richmond.
Mark Ricciuto (yuck, first thing he did is nab Walsh and that probably the only good thing they've done)
Carlton bough in Judd.
Melbourne Chairman is an ex player an inaugural WCE player and B&F winner.
Tenvor Nisbett at WCE abliet not the highest level, but moved to a career football operator. (football manager at subiaco) Also worth noting WCE have a Langer a successful sporting person.

Gavin is a lovely person. He was a reluctant captain. He is no member of the Board. Koch will use him and play him like a fiddle. Get real.

Benny Gale is CEO and as a player played in a very unsuccessful Richmond era.
Mark Rucciuto is a dumb campaigner who's Brett Burtons biggest fan.
Carlton just won another wooden spoon, well done Chris.
Glenn Bartlett is a lawyer and has extensive experience in business and football administration.
Trevor Nisbett is there for being a highly successful football administrator not his playing ability.
We already have Langer's equivalent in Darren Cahill.

Again I ask, what skill set does Wanganeen actually have that would make him a good board member?

The footy department is failing we need someone who can actually assess whats going on. Someone who speaks, others will listen. Craig Thompson, whilst qualified to sit on the board, being the son of a premiership player does not make you an expert football person. Which is what we appear to be lacking in.

Im sure he'd be a perfect candidate to replace Ransom, who i'm yet to see what she brings to our club and as a WCE supporter is our success a priority if ours ? How can we have a board member who would have been supporting against us in our last final ?

The problem is that Gavin won't speak out when he sees problems. He's too timid. He'll just be a yes man - a rubber stamp. We need bold people being appointed and elected to our board, and Thompson seems the closest of all the candidates to that.

Wanganeen would make a good board member, as regards having an indigenous voice on the board. However he should be one of those appointed, not elected. Putting him up via election is Port trying to get the result they want, not risk a potential candidate like Thompson, who could apply some pressure to Koch and KT, getting in.

I don't have a problem with Hansom, when your fundamentals of the football department have been flawed for years, her tinkering around the edges for the off-field isn't going to do much one way or the other. We need a board Member with China experience though more than anything else, so she's one of several who could go for someone with that skill set.

Ideally I'd like to see Thompson as the Members rep., Wanganeen as the indigenous / ex-player appointed and a China expert appointed and piss off whoever are the two most conservative naysayers on the board, holding us back from leveraging / working China properly.

I voted Fiacchi.

Knows the supporter base. Knows business. Knows the board.

Seeinthg his webpage and social
Campaigning I wish I didn’t play nice last election. If I spent 2k on social I would have beaten Thiele. Ahhh well.

I like George but im with tribey hes said a couple of things where he’s forgotten the board isn’t above the supporters.
