Best Bumps?

Just a little nudge on Kirk. The perfect fair shirtfront. Pickett could have ironed him right out.

Got no footage of it but one of the most bone jarring fair tackles i've seen at the SCG was Hayes on OKeefe. Scary seeing a bloke as strong in the core as OKeefe trying but totally unable to move. Hayes got the chance and just monstered him. OKeefe later said he felt it right thru his bones and felt paralysed.

Not sure if it fully conforms to the definition of ‘bump’, but Rough’s hit on Hannerbury in the ‘14 grannies was enormous, savage and utterly fair. The perfect Australian football hit, no head involved, just wipe the body out. You knew there was no way we’d be losing that game after that...

The bloke was half his size. Thats the best u can recall ?
Hawthorn fans

Woosha had many you could bring up but the one on Graham Wright on the wing was devastating.
Just ask Graham, when he finally get's his wind back that is.

Mate that's not even in the top 100 of all time. Decent at best

Hayes was good at that, lining blokes up with tackles when they're exposed.

May’s hit on Stefan Martin was pretty brutal. Wasn’t really malicious but it cleaned him up

Steve Wallis ironing out Brett Heady, made famous as it led to the melee that had Daniel Southern put Sumich into a sleeper hold.

Back story was Heady kicked ten against the Bulldogs in the previous game and was rubbing it into the defenders all day "that's one, that's two etc".
Wallis had the opportunity to line him up and as Heady was on the ground Wallis stood over him and said "that's one".

Aaron Francis delivered a nice one on poor ol JOM last season. The reward for his text book bump you might ask? A $2k fine. What a world...

This still rubs me up the wrong way. If we want to keep the bump in any form that Francis gem needs to be allowed without any punishment. And yet, in the same season, Burton blindsides Higgins after electing to bump, and nearly knocks his head off, without punishment. That comparison alone is enough to drive true fans of hard, fair footy, completely nuts.

Utterly ludicrous that he was fined for that. Perfect hip and shoulder, no contact to the head with both players charging for the ball.

It should be shown as an example to a) deliver a bump and b) take a bump.

Yep, The fact no Hawthorn player even considered remonstrating with Frang shows they all thought it was play on and let's go. JOM after getting up just went on with it as well.

Yep, nothing in the Francis hit whatsoever. Can't recall the Burton one.

Still remember that State Of Origin match when Woosha & Ablett collided. It was a big hit and they both just got back up. Both tough bastards.

I remember they played later in the year at Kardinia Park and Ablett made a beeline directly for Worsfold. He did not connect as what he intended but Worsfold didn't know where he was. It was his free kick but he was wobbly and trainers had to attend.
Tough bastard to even get back to his feet but definitely suffered a mild concussion that particular day.

When Ablett decided to square the ledger, he often got his intended target with a bone jarring hip and shoulder.

As always it's the inconsistency that drives most of us nuts. We see reckless/careless acts almost every game that go unpunished, Tom Mitchell trying to hit Goldstein high for example, yet a perfect bump goes for $2k. What shited me just as much was the club accepting the penalty.

Anyway, probably time to move on, I'm sure there is a bunch of equally stupid decisions to be made right around the corner;)

TV ringside! Robbie Muir has had enough of Dennis Collins's backchat and the opposition supporters.
