I think we are spoilt for choice. I remember drafting a Murphy or Gibbs and people getting excited over just one player

We have Walsh Stocker Setterfield Dow O'Brien SPS Fisher Kennedy Charlie etc which most believe at worst will be very good players
I love it when Soapy V gets excited... :) bring on the season already!

Good post till the last line. Easy target. Damn unlucky with injuries..none of which have any relationship to diet. But maybe being depressed over constant injury does. That where Russell will work. The rest will follow.

Remember he came back not in peak condition BEFORE he got injured. Hence the comment was warranted and fair

David Cuningham mentioned as a small/medium forward.
Very nice.

Half forward/wing really seems to be Cuninghams go.
People forget just how much pressure this guy can provide and better than that....he can kick a goal.

We're not the fastest team going around and we will miss Pickett, but all being well, Cuningham does fill a need. Up to him from here.

Midfielders rotating through. Who would have thought?

Interesting Garlett not mentioned. Pre season in defence looks about right?

Midfielders have to rotate around the ground and not just through the forward line, as otherwise you won't be playing too many mids at all and you can't just have the mids sitting on the bench.
Sydney still kept their core mids together whilst Mills spent time in the back half and Heeney forward at times.

If we are to have all of Cripps, Kennedy, Setterfield, Dow, Walsh, Petrevski-Seton, ECurnow, Fisher and then Murphy and even Stocker in the first 22 at the one time, they're simply going to have to play other roles as required, whether for short or long periods of time.

Stating the obvious there and nothing anyone here wouldn't know. Interesting though who performs best and where.

Would appear so, he wasn't in any of those forward group huddles in the accompanying video either, I believe? Wasn't paying great attention there to be honest.

I hope he and the other Indigenous boys are back in Melbourne this evening from Adelaide and ready to go tomorrow, very keen to see Samo in action, particularly.

I'm not against Setterfield playing HBF this season. With Doc out, Willo doubtful and Setters coming back off a knee it wouldn't be a bad way to get experience and confidence. Big, clean hands and a good ball user. Then a full pre season and back on ball in 2020.

Neither am I, for the early part of the season at least. Once he gets his footing though (perhaps by round 5 or 6), I suspect his impact will be vastly superior in the midfield, with the likes of O'Brien generating drive off the HBF.

Where has he been playing in match sim?

O'Briens been playing wing/midfield. Setterfield hasn't joined in any match sim I've seen so far

Been calling for Cunners to be played in the front half for ages - looks like we may see him get an extended run there (pending fitness). Outstanding. May take a few games to click for him, but I'm gonna pencil him in for a bag sometime this season, has the makings of a player who can take the game away from the opposition in a quarter.

Lots of talk about pressure up forward which they have definitely been practicing during the pre season.

McGovern Charlie McKay surrounded by Polson Cuningham & Fisher is exciting. Very balanced, pace and can apply pressure. Start winning the midfield and we will kick lots of goals

Early on all I want to see is manic pressure up forward. The rest will come

PS. Interesting he mentioned Kerr as a tall forward. Obviously still the preferred spot for him

Good looking side. I think Garlett is a real chance in defence early. Gibbons close. Marchbank very doubtful

Be great when Setterfield Stocker Williamson Docherty Pickett are fully fit

The doubt on Marchbank is why Jack and Garlett are Emergencies. Easy to slot either into the backline. Our backline will not be quick but most great backline groups haven't been quick. They have been strong, smart and reliable to each other. We've got what we've got for this year...and then we'll see what happens with Willo and someone like Schumaker or Jack or Garlett or a mid dropping out of there and back to a flank ala Vlastuin, Mills etc etc ...then Doc next year.

So much to play out this year as you are well aware.
