+ NO FITNESS BASE AT ALL.

I don't really think its relevant in the context of my question.

The surgery was 2 months ago and the season proper is 1 month away, that's 3 months in to a supposed 4-5 month injury.
Even with his poor base, Pickett has been training throughout the previous 2 months.

If the injury is healed by round 5, which is around 4 months after surgery, then surely you could expect him to be playing VFL by round 8 or 9 and pushing for AFL by round 13 or so.

Unless the injury is a lot worse, which is what i was trying to ask.

Wasn't having a direct dig at you DD … I just don't hold high hopes for him is all …… he is coming from a long way back both mentally and physically.

I'd be pleasantly shocked if we saw Pickett at AFL level in 2019.

Starting from way too far back and he won't be accommodated back into the firsts like he has been in the past few years. He's going to have to work his ****ing ass off, whether he's prepared to do that?

So as I see it:

INJURED MAJORITY/ALL SEASON:
  1. Doc
  2. Pickett

INJURED/BEING MANAGED; NO PRE-SEASON
  1. Marchbank
  2. Williamson
  3. MacReadie
  4. Lang
RETURNING FROM INJURY (HAVE COMPLETED THE MAJORITY OF PRE-SEASON & SHOULD BE FIT FOR ROUND 1):
  1. Kruez
  2. Faz
  3. Jones
  4. McGovern
  5. Plowman
11 injured players with 6 unavailable for round 1 (substantial injury or no pre-season). Of those six, only 2 are walk-up start best 22 - Doc and Marchbank. The other 4 are in the frame, but certainly not locks for our best 22.

Newman replaces Doc
Plowman plays Marchbanks 3rd tall role and either Daisy or LOB role through the back half (as they did last year, and did ok)

Say for first round v tigs

Jones - Lynch
Weiters - Reiwoldt
Plow - Caddy
Simmo - Castagna
Thomas - Edwards
Garlett - Rioli

Not too bad..

It's not really about a fit Faz for me.

The more players we have fit and firing, the more competition we'll have for spots come round 1.

This will drive improvement in the group.

Also important to have a proven goal kicker who is shorter than McKay/Curnow/McGovern....

New recruits McGovern and Setterfield will be fit for the JLT Community Series after battling injury-interrupted pre-seasons. Docherty and Pickett will miss most, if not all of 2019 with respective knee injuries. The club is hopeful Kreuzer will be fit to play in the JLT, but the likes of Lang, Marchbank and Macreadie are unlikely to feature. No timeline has yet been placed on their returns. Fasolo is making a late dash to be ready for round one, having recovered quickly from a broken arm sustained over the summer. The Blues are being ultra-cautious with Williamson as he makes his comeback from a season on the sidelines. - Riley Beveridge

Interesting comment about Williamson?

You'd think we'd get in trouble if we mis-reported injuries to the AFL so hopefully that is accurate, there haven't been any setbacks and we're just taking things slow. Willo may make it inot my Round 1 Fantasy side after all.

Was officially worried 2 weeks ago.

Looking like another year written off for he and Williamson, perhaps Macreadie.

Doc, willo, marchbank I all had/have as the future of our back line. Really need to get these guys right

Thanks for the update.

Question regarding Pickett.

His injury was reported as 3-4 months if I remember correctly, even if that went to 4-5 months, that still brings him back around mid season.

Is there any chance he will be back this season?

He was doing a small amount at the Queensland Camp from photos. But a core knee injury like that will limit running so will make it tough.
