You’d think if he was staying, he’d just announce it now.

I personally hope that he does sign with us at the end of season, however if he was to stay, it'd best serve his needs to hold off contract negotiations which would make GWS sweat.

What better way to increase the pressure on them in keeping one of their top 3-5 players and increase their offer to him?

I guess that only time will tell, however I'm more than sure that we've been working on him for quite some time now.

Ive been told Dustin Martin will not be coming to the Hawks either.

Sack Wright I say.

Well thank goodness for that, didn't think he'd pass the no DH's policy anyway.

Sack him? Think we should be making a statue in his honour.

Is what it is - with them offloading Scully and Shiel I presume it opens up some substantial cash to keep him interested.

Could also be a case of preferring to return to WA and again I’m sure there would be plenty of $$ and external $$ that may interest him

Maybe the hawks are also no longer the destination club and another Victorian side looks more attractive

Guy has lots of options - lucky boy and good luck to him if he does choose not to come to the hawks

I'm not a big fan of long distance relationships, surely JOM and TOM are both in his ear.

I am a big fan however, of not believing everything that you hear.

As a club we tend to operate in silence, always have.

Port fans would have never envisioned Chad leaving them, until it happened.

Let's all just continue to believe, it's rabbit season and we have the best hunter for the job.

I heard that long distance romances never work. Now this is a genuine pickle.

Yeh I think he will probably stay now that they have off loaded Scully and Shiel. Make no mistake they are definitely still in the Premiership window and he would know that. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him sign on for another two years like kelly did

Gws will be looking at other players to offload if need be, they have stacks of traedeble assets and most of those players are on good coin so it will have significant impact on what they offer Kelly and Cogs. Though, Cogs needs to want to stay up there first which is half the trick! We won’t die wondering though and chase him aggressively.
Other midfield options are Steven who I personally don’t rate that highly and Brad Crouch is going to wait and see how the crows 1) handle his injury 2) how the side travels. I actually rate Bouch a lot higher than most but so do the crows and tigers .

Sure, their premiership window is still ajar, along with about half of the competition.

There is no way that anyone can say in all honesty, that they haven't missed a golden opportunity to win a flag or two in the last few years.

Yes, they have an abundance of high end players, taken with an abundance of high end draft picks, however I'm still a firm believer that a team of champions is no match for a champion team.

If anything, their list and lack of success proves it.

Say for example, if they were to miss finals which I think is a very real possibility, then it'll probably be harder for GWS to convince him to stay, than it would be for us to convince him to leave.

I'd love Cogs but boy oh boy do we need a quality KPF.

This. All the talk seems to be centred around adding more midfielders but we really do need another key forward badly preferably via the national draft this year that can be the second key forward alongside Lewis for the next decade.

I'd be all for the club having a crack at landing Brad Crouch, but it'd have to involve bringing Matt Crouch along with him.

I believe that Brad is out of contract at the end of season, however Matt has something like another 3-4 years left on contract.

Personally I think that we could get Brad fairly cheap, seeing how he was chosen in the 2011 mini draft along with O'Meara but has played even less games due to injury.

His brother on the other hand would come at a hefty price.

Would two first round selections be enough to land them both perhaps?

Considering that Coniglio would come without the need to trade and also the fact we have a substantial amount of salary cap to play with, couldn't we get both in theory?

The only problem with this of course, is finding a decent enough forward to make it worth our while.

Yeah I know, but no quality key forwards are out of contract at the end of this season and Cogs is. Tom Lynch last year and Cogs this year would have been nice.

The 25-year-old Giant also shares a close friendship with Hawthorn's Jaeger O'Meara and often stays with the former Sun and his housemate, Brownlow medallist Tom Mitchell, when in Melbourne.

but but but....they’re not really that close.

If for arguments sake GWS were able to re-sign both Coniglio and Kelly, would something like the below be feasible?

• Jonathon Patton in exchange for 2019 Second Round Selection
• Brad Crouch in exchange for 2019 First Round Selection

Personally I'm not very keen on Patton, however he would fill a void on our list.

Also there is the added concern around Crouch and his injury history.

If we were able to get them both fit and over their injury concerns though it may just pay off.

Let's just hope that we are able to convince Coniglio to leave the plastics and choose us over the lure of WA.

Personally I think it would be nice if we could grab a couple of players that are not the walking wounded
